Photographer's Note

One more shot of the fantastic Kerlingarfjöll mountains in the highlands of Iceland. The Hveradalir valley is very popular among walkers, such as the ones you can see on the ridge in the top third of the picture. Some marked paths run through the valley and some facilities help you to cross the hot water rivers. But walking there is not easy anyway ! The valley is hilly and the soil is dangerous at some places because of sulphur. But what caused us big problems is the mud fixed on our shoes, making any slope a balance exercice ! Maybe the soil was so muddy because the snow had just melted down as we were there and so the place is easier in later summer. Anyway you forget very quickly this problem when you enjoy the fantastic scenery !
