Photographer’s Note

If you go for a walk along the harbour in Reykjavik you will no doubt come across a fabulous piece of art - the Solfar Suncraft. The Suncraft is a sculpture of a Viking ship - a modern work of art completed in 1986. It is made from stainless steel and sits looking over the harbour - glistening in the sun when we were there. The shapes and texture of the sculpture make it the perfect subject for arty photos, with the ocean as your back drop!

Great shot. Sky and sea with its cold colors very good coresponding with the sculpture. I don,t know why, but Your capture reminds me Dali's paintings.

You captured this great artwork in very becoming weather. The gloomy clouds, gray-blue tones perfectly match the feel and the colour of stainless steel. Did you also try a different POV? It could be nice to position the sculpturetowards the left and step back a few meters to shoot from a wider perspective.

ci mostri una scultura veramente affascinante, tanto si inserisce bene nell'ambiente. La luce fredda crea un insieme molto bello di cielo e mare "nordici". L'Islanda per come ce la mostri comincia ad incuriosirmi.

This is a very striking piece of sculpture, and I know I've seen pictures of this before, but it always impresses me. The lines are so clean and smooth, and the shape is just right, a perfect mix of historical accuracy and artistic interpretation. In the dull overcast day the sculpture seems to actually glow. Well done!

Great shot. Domination of steely colours helps to concentrate on shapes rather than colours, though cold colours and I think accurately applied postprocessing too contributed to this industrial mood. This picture has a "heavy" atmosphere - metal and the clouds cooperate nicely. Congratulations!

I remember this Viking boat sculpture from my trip to Iceland.
You did nice composition against the cloudy sky. The photo has very good colors, lightning and sharpness.
