I asked this young bloke if I could take a photo of him with his dog. He readily agreed but did not want to look at the camera. However, I think I caught something more important than eye contact.
Photo taken in the park Hjartagarðurinn (Heart garden) or Hjartatorg (Heart square) just off the main shopping street Laugavegur in Reykjavik.
I made a mistake with sizing. Image is a little too large for Beta view. At full size I can see that is over sharpened and a little noisy. Still OK though for me.
Extra added in edit.
The mistake was not so much the over-sharpening and the noise; the mistake was to forget to downsize and to post the image full size. The downsizing operation will reduce those effects. SEE WORKSHOP.
I won't remove images that I have posted, even if they are judged to be not so good. Others can learn from them.

No, we don't need to see his face to understand the love between man and dog. The sharpening is on the edge, but it is nevertheless a splendid piece of photography. A great portrait beautifully presented.

This is wonderful done, I work always on beta and indeed the picture is a little too sharp, but not immediate disturbing.
These picture shows really the emotion between the dog and the man, I am a very great dog cognoscente.
Excellent compostion, nice presentation.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice day,

Difficile de passer au dessus de cette photo sans la remarquer et sans laisser un petit commentaire très appréciateur du cadrage et de la saisie du moment très particulier.

I think the desire, on the part of the boy, not to show his face, certainly adds some special mood to your shot. It is very compact, the two entwining themselves in such a way, that they become like one! A great composition!
As said by the other members, the shot is a little over-sharpened; because of the gentleness of the mood, it would possibly have been more effective being a little soft rather than too sharp.
My warm regards,

I agree with the rest that the scene is great and full of positive emotions! This high level of sharpness was not necessary and I would suggest to reduce it to get more natural visual effect. Beautifully seen and well framed. TFS!
Have a nice weekend!

I agree that you captured an important and emotive moment here, the expression is clear in the body language of both the man and his dog. As a dog owner I an feel the motion in this, and I really like how this has turned out, the fade to black all around the main subject looks great and serves well to draw attention to the emotion and not the surrounding area. Very nicely done,

I can't believe this image only got 20 points on TE - that means just ten people gave you credit from 270 viewings. Just goes to show the TE audience haven't got a clue because this image has real impact and in my experience of camera club photography in the UK it would win many a competition. It's a real stunner that is beautifully processed and the impact comes frmo the way it conveys powerfully the relationship between these young man and his dog. Probably one of the best images I have seen on this site in a long time.
Well done mate.
