Photographer’s Note
These four sculptures (2 dancers, a drummer and a trumpet player) by Porbjorg Palsdottir are titled 'Dance'. They stand in front of the Perlan Restaurant on Oskjuhlio Hill and have a commanding view over the city of Reykjavik and they do quite literally seem to be dancing on top of the world.
The Perlan is an upmarket glass domed revolving restaurant whichs stands on top of five geothermally heated water tanks. In a workshop I will include a photo of the restaurant and another of the sculptures positioned in front of the water tanks.

Hello Marlene,
in my opinion, you chose an excellent set of three photos to show the place, the construction itself and the sculptures! Frankly speaking, I can't decide which of the two (this one or the WS variant "Image #2") I would choose as the main post! they are different, but, it seems to me the most "emotional" is "Image #2" in WS where the tiny dark figures seem fantastic against a bit strange-looking structure! Anyway it's only my opinion... In any case, it's a very interesting contribution!
it's funny but just several days ago I was wondering where else I would like to travel, and I thought of Iceland... I even looked through many photos of it, including those on TE! but it is so far... and it is SO cold there! :)
Warm regards,
Elena

dear Marlene,
an artistic picture of the fine art work at wonder location.
the idea and imagination of sculptor is excellent,
and your POV and the back wide view are well expressing that realization.
in my feeling, human is dancing creature, also singing and playing,
yes the music is the essence of our presence indeed.
it is hard to express the music by picture, or by sculpture...because those are still.
but this sculptures and your shot look succeeding it,
I can feel the music in this light and air very well,
thank you,
Akihisa

Hi Marlene,
A funny picture! What I first thought about, when I saw the thumbprint, was that famous scene of the Beatles, standing on top of a roof somewhere in London, making one of their last recordings. There is indeed a slight resemblance!
Kind regards

Hello Marlene,
The building and the statues are fine, actually very good, but the area looks really gloomy. I guess December light in Iceland doesn't cause much brightness at all. Your POV makes the statues look very cheerful as silhouettes against the afternoon sky, and I appreciate the glimpse of the city in the distance.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Marlene,
very sophisticated! Excellent POV, and your nice title describes the feeling I have while looking at this image: the sculptures really seem to be alive. And you have found a very beautiful background for these fascinating figures! Congratulation!
Warm regards

Hi Marlene,
Dancing on the top of the world….. Maybe in 2004, but at this moment the people of Iceland have other problems to solve, with the financial crisis nowadays. But I really hope these dancing days will soon return and not only for the Icelanders.
