Žingvellir is the National Park where the Althing, an open-air assembly representing the whole of Iceland, was established in 930 and continued to meet until 1798. The Althing has deep historical and symbolic associations for the people of Iceland. The property includes the Žingvellir National Park located between two tectonic plates and the remains of the Althing itself. It was the first national park in Iceland.

very nice view of Thingvellir with great atmosphere. The rainy sky contrast very well with the greenery. We can see the crack of the earth. The rainbow give a ice colors touch. Congratulations.

Another lucky weather day for you, Maria ~
when we visited Žingvellir two years back, it was a bright sunny day, which was lovely, but to catch it under a rainbow, well, that's magic.
I think the elves must be guiding your travels in Iceland :)

hello Maria ,
A gorgeous view of this superb landscape , with the attractive sinuous river and the white building as a focal point . The light is splendid on the FG , contrasting with the dark cloudy sky . The rainbow is the final bonus .

Ciao e buona serata

There is a wonderful mood in this photo; it looks like a fairytale. I like the green land, the dark sky, and, of course, the full rainbow. The small, white buildings seem so very tiny, and look as if they were magically transported to that spot. Very Nice!

Hi Maria. I have just had a look at some of your gallery images and I like very much what i see.I also noted that many fine photos were terribly unappreciated. I shall get back to some of them, especially your fine work on Morocco. I love this panorama and imagine the Vikings attending their council. Still looks such a wild place and so beautiful. Great capture of light. Pozdrawiam. Klaudio.

I like your small (for the moment ?) collection about Iceland, in particular this picture of Thingvellir. I've been twice in Iceland but I didn't visit yet this famous place. You caught a great instant there. The POV on the rainbow is very good and the light is absolutely fantastic and makes the colours around the lake very beautiful. I am not sure you used a polarizing filter here, but you should do since it makes the colours of rainbows more beautiful again. I will look after your next pictures of Iceland ;)
Have a nice week end,
