I can't honestly tell you where this photo was taken....it really is in the middle of no-mans-land.
For the sake of TE, i will place it under the city of Solfoss in the South. Its one of those photo's and scene's where you're literally driving the countryside and you're suddenly overcome with awe.
I remember just feeling compelled to pull the car over to the side of the road and set up my tripod to capture this natural wonder. There is so little traffic and so few people in Iceland that I set my tripod in the middle of the road. I didn't even have to hurry :)
I'm not exactly sure what i photographed, all i know is that its the true Icelandic experience...what a country this is!
Thanks for looking

To my eyes, it looks amazing how teh peak is capped in snow and ice, while the foreground area looks quite temperate, especially as the mountain doesnt look that high. I guess this is the effect of the harsh weather in a place like this. it almost looks as if the snow is taking off from the mountain and becoming clouds in the scene!
All the best

Wonderful experience for you
Very good natural landscape
You should take a large panoramic view :)

A good capture of this fascinating and rather singular landscape. The snowcapped mountains topped by the low clouds make a great focal point. Lovely light and sky. Fine landscape photography.

Il m'arrive souvent de ne pas me souvenir de l'endroit précis ou je prends mes photos. Je crois qu'il va falloir que je m'achète un GPS pour ma caméra. Par contre l'endroit semble désolé à souhaits et est très beau.

You've posted some great open expanse landscapes so far, but this one to my eyes is the best - the incredibly flat open grassland leading to some really dramatic mountains along the side - beautiful light too, especially on the lower slope of the larger mountain where you can see shadows ripple across it.
The description reminds me a bit of the rainbow photo I posted a while back - awe so deep you have to stop to take it in, and the complete absence of other cars or disturbances while you do so. It's a nice feeling!

una montagna molto particolare, incastonata tra terra e cielo.
Ottima la scelta compositiva, con bei colori ed una buona luce.

Great shot of these mountains that just seem to pop up from an otherwise flat looking landscape.Great sky and lighting.

judging by your recent pictures you must have been quite often surprised by so delightuful landscapes. The image captures perfectly not only beauty of this landscape, but also its tranquility(something I really missed in Hong Kong:)
Here seems to be everything perfect for an amazing shot-I mean not only your POV or HDR treatment, but also the light and so nice cloud formations.
Masterpiece in every aspect!
Have a good day

A very beautiful view and I am surprised to see no snow at all on the ground here. Just on top of the hills. This must be a very isolated place if you can take pictures like this, in the middle of the road without problems. By the way, have you read anything from Arnaldur Indridason?

Ahh now this is true Walkabout Territory. I love the fact that there is no one around and that you had no idea where you were. There are fewer and fewer places like this in the world and I am so glad you have experienced it. The whole photo, everything in it looks like it's being blown away. Right from the texture of the grass to the lop-sided mountain to the clouds in the sky. It's a stunning look and every other element I could possibly think of is exactly where it should be and how it should be photographed. Love this place, thanks for sharing it with us.
PS: Erotica? Really? You crack me up. And I thought I was bad with my lighthouses :)
PPS: I might be off the air for a while cos I'll be playing with Malgo & Friends for a few days, then have a trial all week, then am going Walkabout for a while after that. I'm so excited about my mystery destinations!

This rock looks as it "fell" from outer space, Craig.
Earth formetion that is different from the surrounding field. taken nicely at the open area on island, no-men land's...like you wrote.
Fine details collected.

This looks like a black mountain left in the middle of nowhere for no real purpose. It looks so strange I can understand that it attracted you. It's a wild and beautiful scenery and an awesome picture.
eldancer1 (33953) 2013-05-03 7:36
Beautiful and peaceful landscape! Details are sharp from near to the mountains. Good lighting and wonderful colors. Well done, tfs.
pierrefonds (61938) 2013-05-30 11:44
The wideness of the field is giving depth to the composition. It is well divided, The sky, the mountains and the field. The point of view is showing the details and colours of the field and of the mountains. The good luminosity is bringing out the colours. Have a nice day.
Robert1969 (7160) 2013-06-05 0:47
The viewer can feel "middle of no-mans-land-effect".
Picture is nice open, nice wide and the cut
emphasize that extra. The layers creates a nice
depth. Composition is excellent.
