Photographer's Note

End of day on Grjótagjá fault in the Mývatn lake area in the north of Iceland. Europe is on the left of the fault, North America on the right ! In the background you can see the Hverfjall crater and an ending rainbow on the left (you should see it on the large version). The fault is named after a cave, Grjótagjá, that is in the fault. There is a hot water lake in the fault, where you could bath until 70s (unless you were claustrophobic !). But after the Kraflka eruptions the water temperature raised and it is still 50°C today, so not a good place to have a bath. Yves posted this picture of the same place but with the opposite point of view.
