While driving around the country of Iceland, I always had my eye out for scene's like this one, always looking for long curves in the road.
There was one particular stretch of road that really caught my attention, and I wasn't about to let it slip away so we pulled the jeep over and took many photo's.
Its funny because a couple of cars passed by, they stopped to see what we were photographing, then they joined in and were photographing it too :)
Iceland is so beautiful, sometimes you just have to pull the car over and just enjoy it for a few moments.

Hi Craig,a beautiful and original view from your iceland trip, this dark neverending S is perfect to break the white carpet made by the snow,a peacefull place and the usual great quality of details and colors,i like it! Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Well framed and presented in a panoramic format this sinuous road through this snow covered landscape, Good contrast with the bleu sky, tfs.

Ha, ha, Craig, so a teacher in a foreign land, too! You have captured the road really well, having it emerge from a lower corner and sinuously tral across the frame. Your composition, giving extra attention to the sky, emphasises the flatness of the land.
The snowy appearance is all too familiar, at the moment. We have had snow right into April! I like it but have had enough, now!
Have a lovely day,

Well seen, this road making its way sinuously across the flat icy landscape. The image has great depth and is pleasantly lit. Very good colours and sharpness. Always nice to be the start of a trend:-)

J'aime beaucoup cet effet de profondeur et d'immensité que nous offre ce paysage presque désertique. On se demande bien pourquoi la route sinue quand elle pourrait aller en ligne droite.
rogerl (1544) 2013-04-02 5:04
Craig, what a lovely composition - it could almost be B&W except for the blue sky. The road is a perfect black stretching all the way to the horizon. Nicely composed. Thanks.

Hello Craig ,
The sinuous black road in the snowy landscape is really attractive . I wonder if a more panoramic format , with only 1/3 for the empty sky would have not worked better . Not sure ...
holmertz (45942) 2013-04-02 7:36
Maybe not quite as spectacular as some of your earlier pictures from Iceland, but still a very attractive composition of the black road winding its way through the white scenery. It's a nicely balanced composition with one third land and two thirds sky. The few darker clouds are roughly one third from the top.

a difficult landscape to really capture how wonderful it is to see in the flesh, but this works perfectly. The snaking road enticing us in and the cold palpable it is quite fascinating and beautiful too. Like it a lot!
Have a good week - Brian.

Once finished the Easter holidays, here we are again in these pages.
Superb perspective this snowy landscape, the road curves off into the distance increases the feeling of distance.
Good management of the light and splendid sharpness.
Nice work, I like.
Beautiful range of colors.
Have a good day.

No decayed house or rusty car on the picture!! LOL
Supeb landsacpe with the snaking road amongst the snowy ground. But I would have cut part of the blue sky (I know, we don't have it here..) to get a loooong horizontal scenery.
See my proposal in the WS.

impressively beautiful composition of this winding road and its execution. Perfectly well done. Tfs. Thank you so much.
All the best,

Cette route noire sinueuse structure très bien ta photo et souligne la particularité du paysage islandais. J'aime bien la proposition de Claude avec ce format panoramique qui donne encore plus de force à l'image (d'autant plus que ton ciel semble un peu altéré).

Brrr! I have just endured 2 months of subzero weather here in Erzurum and it's only just gotten tolerably warmer in the past week. Nice graphism and perspective of the meandering dark road through the ice and snow. Well composed with the horizon perfectly positioned on the 1/3 axis. Tfs!

Hi Craig, Amazing big S curve. Beautiful view with delicate colours. I can imagine that others were surprised weeing you making photos in a place where there is just nothing.
We still have snow and cold. But not for long for me. I go to Australia just the next Wednesday and will have hot. Lisa prepares for me a rich program in Sydney. Hurra!!

just like your previous shot-Iceland seems to be a land of wide open spaces. Here excellently presented in winter scenery. The zigzag created by the road and the way it breaks the white domination in the shot is great!Barren landscape, but very picturesque.I´m not surprised you stopped car to capture this scene.

Ireland and Iceland are my dream trips. I definitely like the "curves theme" of this photo. Beautiful soft colours. I like the way we can see so many different surfaces, including the little piece of mountain in the right side. Have a nice evening,

What an interesting part of the World to have the privilege to visit... Such wonderful beauty.
This is such a breathtaking & peaceful scene - I can imagine the cold fresh air - the calmness & just encapsulating oneself in the moment.

Heh, another open road shot! Excellent viewpoint, taking full advantage of photogenity of those curves. And careful framing road reaching the left corner. I see that the road is raised above the terrain, I assume that it's to avoid effects of frost to road surface.

Excellente cette route en serpentin dans la vallée enneigée, sous une très belle lumière et superbe ciel, bon format pano, très belle image
Hansaphotos (7519) 2013-04-06 14:41
Excellent composition and a stunning view. The road creates a classic S curve and seems endeless. The high contrast between the road and the snowy landscape is a great feature here, but also the fact that there`s only a thin layer of snow that allows the red/brown colour shine through some places. Really beautiful and fine work:)
Enjoy your Sunday.
Best regards, Erling

Along "S" curves, a road to nowhere! That's cool!
A place I'd love to visit someday.
Attractive and interesting picture!
Sharpness, exposure, colors, slim horizontal format and black borders, chosen pov and composition are all great!
TFS - congrats,
