The black-legged kittiwake is one of the most numerous of seabirds. Breeding colonies can be found in the Pacific from the Kuril Islands, around the coast of the Sea of Okhotsk throughout the Bering Sea and the Aleutian Islands to southeast Alaska and in the Atlantic from the Gulf of St. Lawrence through Greenland and the coast of Ireland down to Portugal, as well as in the high Arctic islands In the winter, the range extends further south and out to sea.
In contrast to the dappled chicks of other gull species, kittiwake chicks are downy and white since they are under relatively little threat of predation, as the nests are on extremely steep cliffs. Unlike other gull chicks which wander around as soon as they can walk, kittiwake chicks instinctively sit still in the nest to avoid falling off. Juveniles take three years to reach maturity. When in winter plumage, both birds have a dark grey smudge behind the eye and a grey hind-neck collar. The sexes are visually indistinguishable.

Anyone who has tried to get really good photographs of birds will appreciate how difficult it is. This looks like an excellent site and what a lot to see.
I hope you will forgive my frankness but I wonder if you have tried to give us too much at once. When I look at the bird on the right, shyly turning its head, with a further bird nestling into the cliff face, I just think what an amazing shot, with wonderful surrounding textures and a great sense of depth.
I still love your subject and your shot, and ponder how amazing it must be to spend time sharing this special time with the birds.
Have a great day,

A lovely view on these rock wall with the Kittiwakes quiet around their nest.
Sharpness and clarity make your picture attractive.
Excellent composition, nice presentation.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice weekend,

Detta är en väldigt fin komposition där fåglarna är perfekt fångade på sina smala klipphyllor. Framför allt tycker jag om mönstret som bildas av ojämnheterna i klippväggen och de många skiftande tonerna av grått och brunt.

I am amazed by the technical date: zoom 12-50! It means that you were very close or you've crop the original picture.
We have some difficulties to see the kittiwakes as they have almost the same color than the cliff. I would have liked to see less birds, but some portrait with the chicks --> I propose you a WS

På den lilla bilden kunde jag omöjligen se vad det handlade om. Ser man den stora bilden, upptäcker man ju hur väl fåglarna smälter in i bakgrunden. Perfekt kamouflage! En intressant text också.
