Day 4 : Vik - Jökulsárlón

As we were about to leave Fjallsárlón glacier lake under a grey sky, the sun made a hole in the clouds and drew a stripe of light on the desert south of Vatnajökull glacier. A magic moment !

Simple but beautifull !
Very good pov and perfect use of the frame. Good idea to leave greater space for this dark cloudy sky. Nice the light stripe dividing the scenery at the center.

The land seems endless an desolated,I love the dark mysterious mountains sleeping in the far background..
The sky and the sun are superbe.

un endroit où semble t'il il fait parfois nuit en plein jour même en été !
un beau ciel très chargé auquel tu as réservé la plus grande place et cette plage de lumière sur le sol font une bonne compo
Les phares des voitures sur la piste attirent aussi bien l'oeil
Surement un pays riche en découvertes

Hi Olivier, I have to agree with Mesut, the simplicity of this shot is striking. I like the big, atmospheric sky, and the general moodiness of the landscape. Great play of shadow and light. I do find the big copyright sign intrusive though, and it detracts from the overall effect of the photo. On the whole, great work.

Magic moment and an excellent capture indeed !! The photograph expresses the vast expanse of the plains with a facinating bright strip exposed to the sun just about a fourth from the bottom of the picture. The thick brown curved strip of the road on the bottom right has two cars with their headlamps on. That is another magic moment.
The blue sky with dark low clouds have overwhelming shades and depth. The blue and grey colours create a dark demarcating line at the horizon separating it distinctly from the landscape.

Hello Olivier - You are right, this is a magic moment and magic light is the greatest friend a landscape photographer can have. The scale of the landscape is really well portrayed here, the distance from FG to horizon looks vast and the small cars with their pin-prick lights add to the feeling of remoteness. The sky is soft and gorgeous and lastly that flash of light running horizontally across the view is marvellous. Full of atmosphere, simple and beautiful, a very fine shot. Warm regards rosemary

La vignette ne paye pas tellement de mine mais, une fois ouverte, la photo dévoile toute l'immensité et la beauté de ce paysage islandais, soulignées par le trait de lumière qui le traverse.

Salut Olivier,

J'ai l'impression que tu as vraiment bien profité de ton voyage en Islande.
Pour moi qui aime les paysage grandiose, je suis servi sur cette photo avec une grande impression d'immensité, le jeu de lumière qui illumine seulement une portion de plaine et les toutes petites voitures aux phares allumés qui donne l'échelle en contre-point des falaises lontaines de l'arrière plan.

Hello Olivier.
I like this fantastic expansive view of such gigantic open spaces, the gentle highlights made by the thin sliver of sunlight, and the headlights on the curving road. It's a masterful atmospheric picture which makes humans look such midgets against the hugeness of nature. Above the horizon there is not much, but the space is full of subtlety and a variety of tones. A magnificent capture.
