Sopron (german: Ödenburg) is a city in Hungary near the Austrian border.Sopron can be found next to west border of Hungary, at the foot of Alps, 60 kms from Vienna and 220kms from Budapest. One of the most ancient jewel towns of the country. The town unifies the present and the past in itself being a bridge between east and west neighbours of the country. Sopron open its gates in front of the Hungarian and foreign visitors. Traditions of art in Sopron are almost 70 years old and going back to the age, which is called Golden Age by civilization studies on Sopron. The natural environment, exhilarating, healing alpine air, walking path of mountains with forests, look-out towers, springs Fertõ-lake create Sopron one of the most beautiful, most pleasant holiday resorts of Hungary.
On this shot you can see a part of the Main Square with the Trinity column and the Town hall and in d background the Fire Tower ...
TOWN HALL
Predeccesor of the town hall stands in the place of buildings that were made in the Middle Ages. As the Town tower, this building had also been damaged by the fire of 1676. It was pulled down at the end of the 19th century and the current building was built in 1985 in eclectic style. On the first floor there is an archives, where we can find one of the richest town collections of Hungary (approximately 5000 documents from the Middle Ages). The fretwork on the door (1782) is the only remained piece of the old town hall. The big hall is decorated with frescos of Sterbenz Károly.
STATUE OF HOLY TRINITY
Prominent work of baroque sculpture. It was erected in 1695-1701 by Löwenburg Jakab and his wife, Thököly Katalin in gratitude so as they could escape from plague epidemic. The artist is unknown. Its basement consist of three squared prisms representing the statues of the founders and their guardian angels. The twisted columns are decorated with angels and flower strings. At the top of the column a We can see the Holy Trinity Group. The statue matches properly the square monuments. |

Hello, Linda.
Excellent!
What a beautiful late-evening shot of this lovely city square, taken at just the right "blue hour" with a fabulous sky. Lovely colours produced by the mixture of different light-sources too.
And a superb note to accompany this fine picture.
Kindest regards,
John.

Hi Lin,
Experiments with the Blue tones...
Fine composition, and a sensible tonal touch.
Deep tones and saturated moods.
Well done.
Enjoy the days,
jp
Szia Linda
You're trying hard with the blue hour I see ;-)
Very nice square and timing was great to get the blue hour contrasts, I think you could have framed it a bit higher.
