I was on a cave tour with my school in the Mátyás-hegyi cave, Which is part of the Pálvolgyi cave. When we arrived in a big "room" I asked the others to pose for my photo. I like the small light in the complete darkness.
I would be pleased if you told me your opinion about the photo!

Pálvölgyi cave

Szépvölgyi str 162.
It was discovered in 1904, during stone extraction. The speleologists found 1200 metres long passages and beautiful stalagmit formations. It was soon opened to the public, equipped with electric lighting in 1927. Since 1944 it is a nature protected area. There has been continous search for new passeges and by 1980 the lenght exceeded 13 kilometres. In 2001 the connection with the neighboroughing Mátyáshegyi cave was discovered and as a result of this today this cave-system is the second longest in Hungary with its 18km length. For visitors guided tours are organised in every hour. The temperature is around 8 Celsius, warm clothing is recommended. The tour lasts about 50 minutes during which 500 metres are covered. There are ladders and steep stairs, it is not recommended for the physically challenged and for children under 5. Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday from 9am to 4pm.

It is also possible to visit the unbuilt, natural areas of the cave, if you are interested in a more adventurous way of exploring the caves, please see:

Nice capture and very realistic, I just miss the mud and the dripping water sound ;-) This is what caving/speleology is about!

Hi Marci
Looking the thumbnail, i was ready to write that it's not a nice picture and add a one-point face.
But looking the whole image i realize that the light part and the dark black suranding make a nice atmosphere.
I am watching the photo for about 5 minutes and now i can say that is a good shot.
Regards

The focal area is too small and hardly noticable, it's more like a suggestion. anyway, thanks for the tourist guide notes. I was going to go there last year, but chickened out due to the challenging conditions (it's not for 70 year olds like me), although I went thru it when i was a teenager in the late 40's.

Szia Marci!
Mivel a TrekLens-en már minden képedet értékeltem, átugrottam ide. Fantasztikusan jó kép! Szerintem is nehéz ilyet csinálni, de az előttem szólóval ellentétben úgy érzem, pont ettől jó a fotó! Baromi jó, ahogy a kis kép kitűnik a nagy fekete semmiből!
Kíváncsian várom, addig is baráti üdv Laci

At first I thought that the expanse of black was too much. However, like peering into a dark room, you start to see slight, subtle highlights. It's a very atmospheric shot and you've done well to keep the exposure accurate on the cavers. Very interesting and unusual shot. Best wishes, Paul.

Tetszik...

i like the idea a lot marci... but the black part seems to be a little too big... still a good one though :)...

cheers

k

And here is hidden a minimalistic success!
Whatever is told already, i don't care, and would love to clap you for this very impressive idea for the presentation of this cave. Composition, where the light and figures are in darkness, is greatly managed, and keeping the dark part this large is the crowning idea of this genial photo. Yes it is as dark and as big as insde of a cave should be. Congratulations!

Szia Marci,
ez azon kčpek kozč tartozik, melyek toprengčsre čs elgondoltatŕsra kčsztetnek čs kčtfčle kritikŕt vonnak maguk utŕn. Kěvulŕllňkčnt, az elso čs azonnali kommentŕr az lenne, hogy čn, aki nem voltam ott, tobbet ill. tobb rčszletet szeretnčk lŕtni mind a barlangbňl, mind a tŕrsaidbňl čs ezčrt jobb lenne kevesebb fekete čs kozelebbi kčp a megvilŕgětott rčszrol.
Ugyanakkor megprňbŕlom magamat a helyedbe kčpzelni čs akkor arra a kovetkeztetčsre jutok, hogyha ott lettem volna, megszerettem volna mutatni kčpeimen keresztul azt az izgalmat amit ott ŕtčltem, vagyis a hihetetlen nagy urt čs a teljes sotčtsčget, mely korulvett bennunket. Erre a cčlra pedig a kčped tokčletesen megfelel, hiszen egyčrtelmuen jelkčpezi az imčnt emlětett korulmčnyeket. Ha mčg ehhez hozzŕtesszuk, hogy egy jňl megszerkesztett kčpnek ŕltalŕban a fotňs akkori/pillanatnyi črzelmeivel kellene ŕtitatňdnia...mŕris megvan a kčt pont (:D). Otlet: a WS-ba betehettčl volna a "kěvulŕllň" čnemnek megfelelo vŕltozatot (:D! Tčnyleg a tŕrsak mit szňltak, hogy mčg ŕllvŕnyt is cipeltčl oda? Gondolom mŕr meszoktŕk ezt Toled... (:D.
Kellemes hčtvčgčt kěvanok!

Szia Marci!
Búcsúzásként most mondjam, hogy jó fényeket? Inkább: továbbra is eredeti ötleteket!
Üdv
Laci

Hi Marton, This is a really hard photo too see properly on the thumbnail, however when opened it's very subtle, with the black surround & the single point of light, a wonderful piece of composition, the people give great scale to the whole thing &, they obviously finish the shot off perfectly, kind regards Wilson.
