Photographer’s Note
Not a very orginal picture this, but one of my favourite places, the Gellert baths in Budapest. I posted a shot of the pools in Eger a little while ago. The pools in Budapest tend to be these very grand bath houses, but still with some hot pools outside, right in the middle of town (see workshop). This is the main pool, either side of it are more grand pool rooms but these single sex, and with massage and steam room facilities.

I think on the contrary, than to find a swimming pool in this kind of architecture is very unforeseen.
this image is really beautiful and the contrats hot with this green water returned very well.

Great shot, Richard. This one is definitely on my agenda. I like the off-center angle here and the way the columns lead your eye down the shot.

It seems an exclusive swimming pool, only for rich guys. I'd be get frightened swimming there. It is really an unusual place to have a bath. You did well to post it. The quality of the picture is out of discussion.

I enjoyed the Hungarian baths I went to. The only similar ones I've seen were in...Bath, the ancient Roman ones.
You have lovely light throughout the shot here Richard, except that one pillar on the left, very pleasing generally.

Wow, this is very grand! Reminds me of a pool I went to in Prague where we had to pay by the minute - quite different from pools over here in England.

I remember this place, its very nice, very opulent. I preferred the bath behind you, it was warmer! This is a classic tourist brochure photo, well done.

Well, I like this view, much-photographed or not - maybe because I'm a sucker for wide(r) angle shots. You managed to capture the pool activity as well as the architectural grandeur of the place. Technically the shot is impeccable for its sharpness, colors and light. The outside view you posted in the WS is good complementary piece.

There is a sense of warmth, but balanced out with the body of water, in this photo. I could hear echos among those pillars. My first view of an indoor swimming pool minus the customary plant and umbrellas. Just great to be in TE.

Wow. It would be grand to swim in such a pool. The photo captures such elegance with the detail and the wonderful contrasts between the blue water and gold ceiling. There is also a very relaxed atmosphere, with just as many folks sitting in chairs at the poolside as people in the water. Well done.

This shot is great. The scene is very decadent, it must be unusual to have a swimming pool is such a beautiful building?

Richard, This looks more like the interior of a historic church than a swimming pool. Anyway, it is a great picture and I apppreciate your comments on my photos.

Lovely! Brings back sweet memories! ;-D
I feel so sad knowing that many baths/pools like this have gradually been closed during past 20-30 years; thinking of those all over central Europe.
Thanks for this one, Richard!

I love this photo, for the beauty of the place and for the composition. The perspective is excellent without deformation of the columns nor reducing lines. The colors are very pleasant, the blue of water, the white of the balconies and yellow of the canopy and the columns. The swimmers are well placed. The depth of field is maximum. Moreover, that looks like the decoration of an adventure PC game created last year: Siberia.

A very interesting photo. The theme is absolutely in the spirit of TrekEarth (I never realized swimming pools like that existed, except maybe in ultra-fashionable spas) and it's pretty good technically. I like the yellow-blue contrast and the composition which showcases well the architecture. My only complaint is that the swimmers in the foreground are not very well lit; too bad they weren't just a tad farther away from you.

Hi Richard,
I've been to Budapest and saw this pool but through the glass doors, I remember paying a lot at the door just to get through to the landing only!Didn't get to take a picture eighter. were going to buy a postcard but non of them were as good as your shot, so thank you for sharing yours :)
I love the perspective, the colors and the light very much. Atmosphere well captured.

Hello Richard,
I've been there some 10 years ago, and visited the Gellert Hotel, even went into the pool: I also took a few pictures but non as good as this one. I like it because the exposure is just perfect, the sharpness also. and there's life everywhere: The combination of the yellow roof with the blue-green is also a major attraction for me. Izzet
