Photographer’s Note

This is a view of the royal palace in Budapest taken from next to one of the tram lines at the foot of the hill. The photo was taken by combining a long exposure (to expose the illuminated palace in the background) with a burst of flash as the tram was passing. The flash was not sufficient to fully expose the tram, which combined with the long exposure covering a period in which the tram was not there has resulted in a ghostly appearance for the tram.
