Photographer’s Note
All countries of the former Soviet Bloc, excluding Lithuania, have extensive tram infrastructure. Industrial freight use of city tram lines was a widespread practice during the communist era but has since mostly disappeared, as factories left the urban areas. Another factor is an increasing replacement of trams with trolleybuses as cities face a rapid increase in traffic and such replacement often allows to increase road size. Czech ČKD Tatra and the Hungarian Ganz factories were notable manufacturers of trams. The busiest traditional city tram line in the world is still route 4/6 in Budapest, Hungary, where 50-meter long trains run at 60 to 90 second intervals at peak time and are usually packed with people. A part of this route is the same as where electric trams made their world first run in 1887. Most vehicles are still of high-floor type, in fact many of them are old ones. Low floor hi-tech trams are only starting to infiltrate Central European lines due to their high price and high maintenance costs. (wikepedia.org)

Few points here, the picture would be stronger without bridge in background. This way my eyes focus on the tram, river and tracks. My eyes also wonder to the statue or object on the mtn top on right. I really the history lesson here in your notes. Just my 2cents and please keep posting..always Chuck

Hi Alli,
I like this scene, I pass almost everyday. The replacement of trams with trolleybuses is not really correct. All numbers of trolleybuses starts with 7, because they were introduced when the communist shakals reached the age of 70.
Maybe now, in the end of oil age, these structure will be more valued, because electricity can be get from natural sources (eg. warm water >see National Geographic this month' issue), wind, sun)
Anyway, thanks for sharing this image, I like the freedom statue in the back, looking like a satisfied passinger :)
Nice day to you!
Cheers,
Marcie

Hi Alli,
A well composed scene. I like how you have framed the tram to one side against the background of the bridge. The brown tracks add just enough colour and warmth to offset the rather bland bridge and sky colour. Your angled POV also makes good use of the foreground rail, the tracks, and the far rail.

Hi Alli!!
A qualidade fotografica e otima. Mas o que chama mais a atenção são as cores e a elaborada composição. Parabens.
