l don't know why l didn't take this photo with symmetrical composition... but l hope you like it.
Have a nice weekend
The Peace Stupa stands on a mountain 316 meters high overlooking the lake Balaton. It is Europe's largest stupa standing 30 meters high and 24 meter wide. The Stupa contains the teachings and relics of Buddha, a “tree of life” 24 meters high. The statue of
Buddha was created in South Korea.
The Stupa symbolizes the mind of Buddha and hiswisdom, compassion and love toward all livingbeings. It symbolizes peace, bliss and enlightenment.
Tenzin Gyatso, His Holiness the 14 Dalai Lama, consecrated the Stupa on the 17 of June, 1993 with great joy. This monument was erected through the initiative of the Korean Buddhist monk, Venerable Bob Jon. Ven. Bob Jon is the president of the Buddhist Peace Stupa Foundation in Hungary. The Tibetan monks offered tremendous help and support in the realization of this project.
In1990, the mayor of Zalaszántó, Mr. Huszti Zoltán Ferenc, suggested Ven. Bob Jon the hill Világosvár for the “lighthouse of peace”.
Hungarian architects and builders designed and built the Stupa, with public and private supports from Hungary and Austria. The works were started in March 1992 and completed by the end of September. The creation of this sanctuary of peace would not have been possible without the considerate support of the councillors and villagers of Zalaszántó and the Upper Balaton Forestry and Wood Processing Estate. The building cost amounted to approximately 40 million forints. Generous donations came from South Korea and several European countries.
May the rays of peace shine from the stupa, here in the Park of Human Rights, and reach the minds of mankind all over the world.
At the request of Ven. Bob Jon (Sunim), the presidentof the Peace Stupa Foundation, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang appointed Ven. Lama Konchok Lhundup and Ven. Lama Konchok Jigme as resident Dharma-teachers at the Peace Stupa in 2004.

A Budist stupa in Hungary ! Didn't know yet. And this is what TE is good for. Learning the World.
The capture itself is just topclass. And of course many interesting notes makes it a perfect TE job.
TFS and have a nice weekend

A most unusual sight, a Buddhist stupa in Hungary. Your interesting note explains everything. I like the point of view using the steps to invite the viewer to step in. The image is well exposed making adequate allowance for the dominant white tones. Very good colours and sharpness. All in all, an excellent contribution to TE.

Un cadrage centré centré et justifié pour ce type d'image.Ici un agréable contraste entre le blanc et le bleu pur de ce ciel.La petite touche de couleur dorée attire bien notre regard.

Glad to know that Europe houses some of these stupas.
I was pleasantly surprised to know that it was Europe, from the looks of the thumbnail I thought it was India, Nepal or some other Asian country.
As you mentioned a bit off symmetrical but nevertheless a wonderful composition.

The word of Hungary and this photo of stupa call some cognitive dissonance in my mind. ;) Wonderful photo, superb colors and fine details of the Stupa.

La photo que l'on veut absolument rapporter d'un voyage ŕ cet endroit. La contre plongée est belle et donne de l'ampleur ŕ la chose. La gestion du blanc est impeccable et en plus le ciel collabore de belle façon.

Very impressive and beautiful structure and you almost did a symmetrical composition. The white blinding but you did a wonderful job controlling. Good pov and it has sharp details. Very well done, tfs.

Don't chide yourself, it is nearly symmetrical and I don't think it would have made a much greater impact than this version!
I didn't know there were stupas in Europe but there must be more if this is the largest!
What you have shown us is a beautiful, white building, symbolising peace. Its welcoming steps are irresistible, whilst the waving flags add to the sense of festival and enjoyment.
White can be a difficult 'colour' to photograph in sunlight but you have coped amazingly well.
Have a lovely w/e,

Beautiful attractive Peace Stupa temple in glowing white and enhanced by the colorful banners surrounding and the gold Buddha in the center, with the curving steps leading into it.
Not what perhaps many of us would expect to find in Hungary, but certainly a worthy peace monument for all.
Have an excellent weekend,

What a cool place! I will sound un travelled (which I am, haha) when I say this, but what a surprise to find this fine structure in Hungary! Beautiful white stone, and the steps are so enticing to climb inside and up to see this fine statue in more detail. The many colors scattered all across the view make this a particularly attractive and appealing shot.
I like the off centre composition too, nicely done.

Sometimes photos that are slightly asymmetrical are more compelling, as it is here. I expected this to be in Myanmar or Thailand, but this distinctive architecture is in Hungary! Beautiful play of light and shade, superb colours and sharpness.
