Photographer’s Note
I would like to dedicate this photo to Márton Ocskay (ocskaymarci. Vác is his loved hometown.
Vác
One of the most attractive Hungarian Baroque cities boasts a past dating back to the Bronze Age. It has been a centre of Catholic faith and a diocesan town for centuries.
The foundation of the diocese of Vác is unanimously attributed by historians to the first Hungarian king, St Stephen I. The completion of the bishop's cathedral is also associated with Géza I and, according to this monarch's wishes he was burried here. The interior decoration of the cathedral dates from the time of King St Ladislaus (László). The cathedral stands next to the bishop's palace together with the canon homes and a military barrack on what is today called King Géza Square (Géza király tér). The historic central area of Vác developed in the early 18th century when the once segregated German and Hungarian districts began to merge with one another while maintaining the original medieval town plan. Today the city is the cultural and commercial centre of the left bank of the Danube bend and the most visited tourist destination.
March 15th Square (Március 15. tér)
It has been the city centre since the Middle Ages. During the 18th century some of the most impressive Baroque public buildings and private homes were built on this virtually triangular square. There is a cellar complex under the square which dates back to the Middle Ages.
Some of the most prominent Baroque buildings located on the square are: Hospital and Chapel of the Hospitaller Order (Irgalmas Rend), Town Hall (városháza), Greek Orthodox Church (görög templom), Dominican Church (Fehérek temploma) and the former Dominican Monastery (domonkos rendház), the former Hotel Kúria, the National Institute for the Deaf and Mute (Siketnémák Intézete), and the Palace of the Grand Prepost (Nagypréposti Palota), which is also home to the Diocesan Museum of Vác (Egyházmegyei Múzeum).
Dominican church of Our Lady of Victory (Fehérek temploma)
The vernacular name of this Baroque-style church, Church of the Whites (Fehérek temploma) refers to the colour of the robes of Dominican friars. Its construction was delayed from 1699 to 1755 due to the Rákóczi Freedom Fight. The Rococo furnishing inside were created between 1760 and 1770.
The single nave Baroque church with its unassuming exterior well blends into the main square's atmosphere and is contrasted by the interior's Rococo ornamentation.
Of singular significance are burial finds from Baroque times, recently unearthed in the crypt of the church. These finds are exhibited in one of the cellars of the square.

Hello George,
A fine composition of this beautiful square. An excellent point of view with very good framing offered by the fountain and the line of street lamps. The couple on the bench add much to the atmosphere. Excellent colours and clarity.

Szia Gyuri,
no lám milyen szép és barátságos kis városkában lakik a mi Marcink (:D. Kitűnő a nézőpontod és nagyon hatásos a mélybe tartó perspektíva a jobb szélen. A szökőkút egy kis csemege és nem hiányzik az emberi tényező sem.
Gratulálok és kelles vasárnapot kívánok!

Szia Gyuri!!!
Jajj, repes a szívem a boldogságtól!!!

Hi George,
A strange name in English(square) to refer to the mostly circular feature! Nice scene here on the 'round square' with the senior citizens enjoying a fine day out! Colors and sharpness are good.
