Photographer’s Note
So I paid the fee and walked up the tallest building in town, the Firetower. The street down there had been completely empty for a long while, and I found myself concentrating on the different colors and textures of the cobblestones, which had looked to me all the same in the beginning, but then each of them looked as if having its own identity, and nobody came, so I began discovering some interesting regularity in the geometric patterns down there, and not some chaotic distribution, and finally this guy with that hat showed up.
(I include the original vertical format in the "workshop", actually it was hard to choose...)

Bonjour Daniel,
J'aim bien le géométrie de cette image, l'homme et son ombre venant cassé la répétition.
Les couleurs sont belles sous une bonne lumière.
Cordialement

Hi Daniel,
Those cobblestones have strong and nicely variable textures. Pushed contrast works well on such highly graphical scene. Compositionally I think this orientation looks better, although purist in me says it should be turned vertical.

I love the sharpness of the cobbled street, the idea of taking the pic from above and the shadow!
Stunning!

i think i saw millions of those man-and-his-shadow settings in the past but here i find it somehow refreshing due to this cobblestoned world (or is the world simply "stoned" as the tilt suggests...;-)))
not bad, not bad at all...
best, j.
