One in a short series of pictures taken on a visit to Budapest in March 2002.
Some information from Wikipedea:
The history of Budapest began with Aquincum, originally a Celtic settlement that became the Roman capital of Lower Pannonia. Hungarians arrived in the territory in the 9th century. Their first settlement was pillaged by the Mongols in 1241–42. The re-established town became one of the centres of Renaissance humanist culture in the 15th century. Following the Battle of Mohács and nearly 150 years of Ottoman rule, the region entered a new age of prosperity in the 18th and 19th centuries, and Budapest became a global city after the 1873 unification. It also became the second capital of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, a great power that dissolved in 1918, following World War I. Budapest was the focal point of the Hungarian Revolution of 1848, the Hungarian Republic of Councils of 1919, Operation Panzerfaust in 1944, the Battle of Budapest in 1945, and the Revolution of 1956.
Cited as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, its extensive World Heritage Site includes the banks of the Danube, the Buda Castle Quarter, Andrássy Avenue, Heroes' Square and the Millennium Underground Railway, the second oldest in the world. Other highlights include a total of 80 geothermal springs, the world's largest thermal water cave system, second largest synagogue, and third largest Parliament building. The city attracts about 4.3 million tourists a year, making it the 25th most popular city in the world (and the 6th in Europe) according to Euromonitor.

molto bello questo scorcio del Danubio, siamo abituati a vedere questo luogo da un'altra angolazione, forse più diretta, ma questo punto di vista è più originale.

Like the wide view of the river in the Fg. Strange that the river water colour is very similar to that of the Ganges river over here. The dome in the BG is an attractive focal point. Nice view of the famous river under the dramatic sky. Thanks for sharing.

We hoped to travel this river last year but could not fit it around the imminent birth of our grandchild.
It is truly splendid.
I never realised how wide it was.
It looks to have a fine array of old and new buildings along its shores, with the domed one strongly placed in your composition.
Your notes have certainly whetted my appetite to pursue our original intention!
Have a great day,

very nice cityscape taken from a little bit distant POV. Nice and light composition with plenty of space given to sky and water. I like the way bridge and the rest of the buildings correspond with the surroundings and how they divide the whole picture into two parts at very good proportions.
Very pretty colors and well managed light.
Thanks for sharing and all the best

a city that I long to visit and seeing this shot of the Danube it makes my feet itch all the more. Blue skies over a not so blue river but it is still tantalising and beautiful. Excellent!
Enjoy your weekend - B.

Ciao e buona giornata

Hello Stephen - The soft colours and light are indicative of Northern Europe. The Danube isn't blue here but it is a huge expanse of water and looks impressive as do the buildings lining its bank.I like the lovely open feel to this shot with the hills in the rear adding context. Warm regards rosemary

You found an interesting POV from Budapest, showing mainly Danube and its bridge. Nice view of the boats, hills in the background and the parliament building from the less known side. Nice sky. But why Danube is not Blue?? I am joking, I wonder if it ever was.
Warm regrads MAlgo

This is a classic view of this famous city and one that can be enjoyed through your photo. Lovely colours with the composition nicely held in by the layer of darker cloud.
Kind Regards, Ann.

namaste, a beautiful architecture by the sea. I enjoyed your composition which has a nice colour tone. I love the moody atmosphere here a lot. Excellent work indeed. Tfs.

a superb city scape shown from a distance that adds a fascinating sense of space and scale. The architecture is elegant and imposing and the boats complement the scenery agreeably. There's fine clarity and the soft warm light makes the atmosphere romantic and delightful. I love the colours; the grey, blue and violet hues are very special. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,
