It is the largest church in Budapest, the 96-metre dome of which can be seen from virtually all parts of the city. The Basilica’s construction begun in 1851, before being taken over by Miklós Ybl, one of the leading architects of the time in 1867 and completed by József Kauser in 1905. The Classicist-style building houses Hungary’s most sacred relic: the Holy Right, which is the mummified right hand of St. Stephen, after whom the Basilica was named. Famous masterpieces in the church include statues by Alajos Stróbl and a painting of St. Stephen offering his country to the Virgin Mary by Gyula Benczúr.

The photograph itself is excellent, with the vantage point chosen to reflect the symmetry of the Basilica and the tile design. The presence of the three pedestrians also quite symmetric represents good timing. But... just as good is the note, from which the viewer can learn.
Warm regards and have a good weekend,

That is an impressive church, and a beautiful shot of it too! I love the mosaic design path and your POV adds a lot of grandeur to this fine building. The people in the shot give a great idea of scale, and also depth when we see the tiny people right up at the church. The light across the building is wonderful too.
Have a good weekend

What a beautiful angle for St. Istvan's, Ovidiu - the tile work in the square was a favorite detail of mine while there, and you've done a nice job integrating it with the cathedral itself. And I see you captured it as well during the celebration of the Dual Monarchy, with the flags in front labeled 1862 and 2012. Beautiful late light, nice job!

Ciao e buon fine settimana

I always enjoy yr Budapest photos, its a city that truely interests me.
Your choice of this vertical compo was spot on.
The designs on the road give extra interest too, as do the people.
Classic and refined architecture...nice shot

The pattern of the pavement is absolutely unique and beautifully designed as strong foregound element and superbly leads into the grand structures with good human presence. Great shot and full of dynamism with superb quality. Very well done.

the wide-angle lens offers us a gorgeous image of the Basilica in a good perspective, and its graphical mixture with the beautiful pavement of the square.
The low light of the late afternoon creates a nice game of shades and soft colors.

A very beautiful presentation of this church. The light that shines partly on the facade, on the towers and in the sky makes the picture extra attractive.
The curving lines of the patterns of the pavement make a beautiful foreground. This reminds me a little of similar pavements we often see on pictures of Portuguese towns.
Best regards, Paul

this is a very pleasing and interesting presentation of the grandiose church which has an unusual and fascinating architectural style. I like very much the way you used your lens and the vertical frame. The view opens up before the viewer, the perspective is very attractive. The spacious foreground is very interesting and the three people are intriguingly placed in it. The warm light on the facade is wonderful and meets the shade so softly. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely week,
