This large building complex was built in 1937/38, and remarkably survived WWII with little damage It was designed by the noted architect Gyula Wälder (1884-1944), and now it is a protected architectural heritage complex. The road in front of it, the Károly Boulevard was improved in 2010/11 by creating the green places along the tram tracks and planting the nicely trimmed trees.

From the thumbnail, I thought that this was a view of typical urban complexes, austere and imposing, but of closer look reveals them to be so much more. Unique designs, the windows in particular stand out to me, as do the concrete columns at the base. Nice to see they are protected structures, in so many places this kind of development would have been torn down.
All the best
