Hello,
Winter and snow... How beautiful words together! I like snowy winters very much, but unfortunately, due to the global warming, our winter changed in the continental Europe. Very few snow - or nothing at all - and sometimes quite warm weather (5-10 Celsius above zero). Often raining. Just like in the Mediterran area.
I don't like this. By my opinion winter must be snowy - it needs to the nature to hide in cold and to live when it melts. It needs to us, people to have winter games with our children. And it needs to amateur photographers to capture scenes like this.
Compared to the previous (2006-2007) one, when there wasn't any snow at all, not even in the mountains, this winter wasn't that bad. There was nice amount of snow in mid November - but it completely disappeared due to the warm December. There was a little amount in January and also in late March in the mountains. Better than a year before, but practically nothing compared to the winters 20-30 or more years ago.
My photo was done in Bükk mountains, not far from the ranch of Bánkút (ski center), on ca. 800 meters high above sea level, in November, when we thought this is just the beginning and we'll have snowy winter. We were wrong, this was the biggest snow-hight of the season (26 centimeters in the ski center area).
The biggest amount of snow ever in the Bükk mountains (near Bánkút, on 886 meters above sea level) was detected on 8th of March, 1970 - 108 centimeters. I think this record will never be beaten. But You know, hope dies only for last... |

Pretty winter landscape, good composition with path leading the eye almost away from the picture, but then to return to the center. And the note about the snow is very good.

Hello Laszlo. Winter landscape. I thought first, the winter again to Hungary returned. In the photo the light has a large role. Therefore the photo works very tendencyful. The photo is photographically outstanding realized and worth seeing. Best regards, Wolfgang.
