Guests for winter Photo

Photographer’s Note

One of the few advantages of winter is that in absence of leaves you can look through the branches of a tree - and notice the sleeping owls right in the middle of the town. Some fifteen birds (Asio otus) chose a tree behind a bank building for winter accomodation. (Visit WS to have a look at the ambiance.) May be as a sign for the coming spring recently most of them left this tree, today afternoon I found only three of them sleeping there.

Szia Laszlo,
mit den Eulen eine ausgesprochen seltene Aufnahme, leider mit dem Licht dahinter etwas ungünstig für Struktur. Dafür sind Baum und Eulen gut ausgeleuchtet. Es sind zum Glück Eulen, bei den Banken heute sind ja Pleitegeier zu befürchten (zumindest den Deutschen mit Verbindung zu den US-Immobilien).

Hello Laszlo,
nice the view of this reunion of the owls on the leafless tree.Really there is a lot of number of these birds than ever i have seen.I'd like the branches to were less in order to see better the 'visitors'.Informative your note too.

hai ragione in inverno in città si possono ammirare una moltitudine di uccelli , anche qui in citta' a Roma se ne possono vedere molti .
ottima la cattura di questi gufi non ne avevo mai visti tanti tutti insieme .

Ciao Laszlo,
vedere un gufo, qui da noi, è veramente raro, ma vederne adirittura 15 è praticamente impossibile. E' la prima volta che vedo una fotografia così particolare di questo animale così bello e misterioso. Mi ha fatto molto piacere. Bravo anche tu che li hai notati e sei riuscito a fotografarli.

Wow Laszlo. A highly interesting image. Great TE stuff. I'm surprised & delighted to see these birds chose a tree in urban area to hibernate in the winter. I like the look of the dense branches that somewhat give some camouflage to the birds. They look like owls. Regards. Latiff.

Á, baglyok, de aranyosak! Pár éve még nálunk is voltak a suliudvarban, de amióta ilyen meleg van télen, azóta nem látni őket...
Jó lett a kép, mert a sűrű gallyak ellenére egész jól ki lehet őket venni.
