Photographer’s Note

Every year on 20th August Hungary celebrates the anniversary of the canonization (19.08.1083) of St. Stephen (about 970-1038), the first king of the Hungarian Kingdom, and his great work: the foundation of the Christian Hungarian state. In 2000 he was canonized also by Patriarch Bartolomeus of Constantinople thus Stephen became the first saint of both the Roman Catholic and the Christian Orthodox Church.
The celebrations end with fireworks in most Hungarian cities. I took this curious figure today in Szolnok.
