Θρύλοι και μαρτυρίες σε κάθε γωνιά του Τσιρίγου.
Άνθρωποι που αβασάνιστα κουβαλούν την ιστορία τους σε Δύση και Ανατολή. Κουλτούρες της Μεσογείου ανακατεμένες σε ένα τραγούδι, σε ένα χορό, σε ένα γλυκό του κουταλιού.
Το 1470 το νησί είχε μόνο 500 κατοίκους και βρίσκεται σε φτωχή και άγονη εποχή. Το 16ο αιώνα φαίνεται ότι ο πληθυσμός φθάνει τους 4000 κατοίκους. Οι κάτοικοι για να προστατευτούν, οργανώνονται σε τρείς πόλους στο νησί. Καταφύγια για την προστασία τους αποτελούν τα φρούρια – κάστρα της Χώρας, του Αγίου Δημητρίου (Παλαιόχωρα) και του Μυλοποτάμου. Το 1537 ο γενίτσαρος Χαϊρεντίν Μπαρμπαρόσα, από τους πιο τρομερούς πειρατές της Μεσογείου καταστρέφει, λεηλατεί την Παλαιόχωρα και πνίγει στο αίμα τους κατοίκους της. Το 17ο αιώνα θα έλθουν στο νησί πολλοί πρόσφυγες από την Κρήτη, κουβαλώντας μαζί έθιμα, συνήθειες και κουλτούρα. Το 1715 οι Τούρκοι αγγίζουν τα Κύθηρα, δεν παραμένουν όμως πάνω από τρία χρόνια. Τα τελευταία χρόνια της Βενετικής κυριαρχίας στο νησί ο πληθυσμός θα φθάσει τις 7500 κατοίκους. Το νησί παρέμεινε βενετικό μέχρι καταλύσεως τους κράτους των Βενετών το 1797

In 1470 the island had only 500 residents who live in poor years. The population reaches the 4000 residents in the 16th century. The residents in order to protect themselves, are organised in three central points on the island. The castles of Kythera(Chora), Agios Dimitrios (Paleochora) and Mylopotamos shelter and protect the population. In 1537 the janissary Hayredin Barbarossa, one of the most terrible pirates of Mediterranean destroys, sacks Paleochora that was drowned in blood. The 17th century a lot of refugees come from Crete in the island, carrying customs, habits and culture. In 1715 Turks touch upon Kythera. They do not stay more than three years. During the last years of Venetian sovereignty in the island the residents population will reach the 7500. The island belongs to Venetians up to the catalysis of the state in 1797.

Too bad you hadn't a much bigger zoom... :D
The beautiful fairy is like the cherry on the top of the cake, it's the only thing that could be added to the stunning beauty of the nature. The over exposure on the sun bathed areas is eventually a flaw, but considering the circumstances, you did a reasonable work taming that difficult light situation.

Hi Nick,

The capture of the water fall movement is an asset to the composition. The presence of the model at the bottom of the fall has an effect of scale. The trees ar a natural frame to the fall. The light brings out the best of the colors. Have a nice day.
