View from Kanoni Photo

Photographer’s Note

Here you can see two of the "trademarks" of Kerkyra. You can see the Holy Monastery of Panagia Vlahernon (17th century), on that islet at the end of the pier, and behind that Pontikonisi (means "mouse island). The photo is taken from a hill called Kanoni (means "canon") that took its name during the French occupation of the island, because of the French canons that were put there. On the right side of the picture you can see, part of the Halikiopoulou lagoon.

the thumbnail immediately caught my attention, the 3D effect is very stron even in the small format. fantastic sky, I like a lot how you let it dominate the scene and emphasise the feeling of wide open space. the tiny people on the pier give the necessary sense of scale. excellent work, my compliments.

Excellent presentation, Hercules, I think the light is the key here, as well as the comprehensiveness of the view with two strong perspectives of the piers. The framing is a bit too tight on the left and on the bottom though.

You still having real fun with your monster camera, it anyway looks so, an image filled of creativity and details like a medieval battle painting (especially the sky)
I also like the thing that it's not a static central perspective one as the diagonal starts on different positions which makes it more excitement.

Φοβερός ορίζοντας με ένα φαντασικό μπλέ ουρανό. Όμορφη προοπτική και εντυπωσιακά τα βαρυά σύννεφα δεξιά. Πολύ καλή συνολικά ευρυγώνια λήψη με καμία αίσθηση παραμόρφωσης όπως μπορώ να διαπιστώσω από την κάτω αριστερή γωνία. TFS

Congratulations, It is a very beautiful photograph of Kanoni. You played with the lines, those of the clouds and those of the 2 piers.
In February, the place is deserted and I think that there is less of planes than in summer! The noise then is terrible and gene to contemplate the place!

The cloud formations are amazing!
The lower clouds seem to be some cumulus variety, and they stand out well against the much higher veil...
Interesting point of view gives fine lines with the pier and the bridge!

Hi Hercules very impressive the way you use the clouds at this composition. I remember this place from a video of a friend of mine where i could see how the plains aproach the eiland over this bay. Not so beautiful at this image;-(

Fantastic wide angle shot! The most I like her is the difference between the left and right side. the left side is bright, like aplace from heaven. The right is dark, more misterious. The mountain behind and the clouds above create a volcano eruption feeling.

Oh man, this is a real killer. The wide-angle gave such a superb composition of lines, especially the bridge that goes sooooo deep into the image. The othe harbour lines and the clouds gives some additional diagonal lines to provide an almost geometrical view of the whole scene.

Esta vista esta buenisima, el cielo tiene colores en contraste y muy dramaticos.
me hubiera gustado ver el vertice completo del muelle en la parte inferior de la foto. Tu que opinas?

I've missed your latest shots, Hercules. I'll have to write about my favorites although they are all very good. This one makes a strong visual impact thanks to that giant V and the dramatic sky. The exposure is spot-on; is it HDR?
