[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hard work to be a fisherman.
A man's work.
The sea is not always very friendly. Not at all.
But they have to do it, they have to fight with her, they have to catch the fishes, it's their work.
And after this, they have to sell their merchandise.
But maybe they will not.
In that case it was not a good day.
No problem, for sure tomorrow it will be a better one...

fabulous composition. Exquisite lighting and exposure. I love how you were able to catch the fisherman's gesture in picking out the fish. A superb use of light to accentuate this image and the mood you are trying to convey. Excellent use of black and white, that in this kind of picture is what makes this medium so expressive. We are not distracted by colors, just the light and the detail...wonderful.
Warm Regards.
Stella

O Pontos

Yes, my name, Deniz, means the sea, and it is true that we are not always very friendly. But we have the life in our depths, and sometimes furious, devastating waves on our surface. But you know, that fury is temporary, while the life is everlasting inside.

Great marinelife photo, again with your humble and loving observation on humanity. I especially love the bright reflection on the boat's window.
Ta leme,
Deniz

Nice story. About all fishermen of the world. As I'm living at the Baltic Sea shore it has to touch my heart as well.
There is an interesting "inner" light visible. It softens the feeling of hard work. Makes us think the man loves his work - no matter how hard it is.
Like the kind of softness in the photo contrasting with what my idea of fishermen's work is. But do remember the Baltic sea I'm living at is usually cold, stormy and dangerous in addition.
Greetings T.

Kalispera Kostas.

Splendid work. You're close him and the photo, then, is much better.
Light is good and I like the black and white.
Maybe I miss his face but I like the work of his hands.

Regards.

Ακομη μια στιγμη καθημερινοτητας μας παρουσιαζεις με την φωτογραφια σου.Ο ψαρας ειναι τοσο αποροφημενος στην δουλεια του που δεν σε πηρε ειδηση.Ετσι η σκηνη ειναι τοσο αυθεντικη και τοσο αληθινη...Αυτο δεν θελουμε απο μια φωτογραφιά;

Geia sou Kosta,
I like very well this shot for its beautiful light and focus on the hands of the fisherman and its hard work. Yes, you are right: it's hard to be a fisherman, going out in all wheather, wake up early, fight against strong winds and always repair the nets and boat. And after that, the small fishermen have to face many new EU rules which want promote big fisheries companies and reduce the numbers of them...

Hi, Kostas.
Very interesting one about working people.
Good composition and light.
Best regards. Grazyna.

Hello Kostas,
I really like and appreciate a lot your fishermen's photos. I know I will sound kind of strange, but somehow I think it is a very "grounded" work. And for those who think that using the word "ground" is a bit weird to talk about the sea, I invite them to read the words behind your fisherman's back... "Sea garden"!!! :)
I think the sea and its workers are great opportunity for very good photos. We see this man doing his job, in his element. That's what I like. It is indeed a little overexposed. The biggest problem is the flares, but it is less obvious in black & white (I think?). I wonder, would have it been possible to take the photo with you at a lower level? You might have avoid the gleam and get a little more of his face? Just a thought.
All in all, I appreciate this photo. Thanks to bring a little of the sea life into this virtual world...
Claire
