Photographer’s Note

When visiting the beautiful prefecture of Trikala, you should go further than the magnificent Meteora, the vibrant town of Trikala and the famous winter resorts of Elati and Pertouli.

Further on up the road, after Pertouli, there are a lot of picturesque villages, Neraidohori, Pyrra, Desi, Agios Nikolaos, just to name a few. Even furter on the western end of the prefecture, in the region of Aspropotamos, the "White river" which later, when enters the Etoloakarnania takes the name of Acheloos, the ancient "river-god", (one of the most important rivers of Greece),you 'll come with a dozen more of these beautiful villages (Gardiki, Athamania, Polythea, Agia Paraskevi, Haliki, Anthousa, Milia, Krania, Amarantos, Kastania etc.) on the eastern slopes of Pindos mountain range. The landscapes there are unforgettable!

I had taken the way from Pertouli towards the region of Aspropotamos on a heavily cloudy day and while I was passing by Agios Nikolaos village, I saw a hole in the sky and a beam of sunrays, lighting Drosohori village and that alone, on the other side of the valley. My reaction: pull immediately the handbreak and take advantage of what didn't last more than 30 seconds.

I had visited Drosohori a day earlier and right at the entrance of the village I took a dirtroad on the left, that led me deep in the heart of the forest where I found some beautiful small waterfalls. After a couple of minutes of shooting, a "family" of bears appeared to take a "shower". I was forced to retreat without a thought.
