Aradena Bridge - probably one of the highest bridge in the Europe - 138 m high - over Aradena gorge. An iron structure was made in 1986 by rich sfakian man. View from the bridge leaves you breathless ! Next to the bridge You can find old stone road which goes down the gorge and climbs up the other side. This was the only link of Aradena village to the rest of the world until the bridge was built.
The Aradena gorge is on of the most impressive in Crete. It is seven kilometres long and it has extremely steep and tall walls (over 100m). The village of Aradena is almost abandoned. Interesting church of Michael the Archangel, which You can see on my picture right from the bridge, was built in the 14th century. |

Hi Jiri!
Aradena is really beautiful place and the bridge is extraordinary... You chose very good POV. I have pictures of the bridge from the other side of gorge only and they aren's so spectacular... ;o))
I like here composition and good natural colours. Well done.
