Cretan fiords...
Nonsense? Fiord at Crete ? No, it is proper information.Such fiord-like landscape can be found in the area between Matala and Lithion Cape, south Crete. Moreover - in this area lies a number of such coves. Probably the best known one is Vathi. But the name of the cove on my picture I did not find at any detail map of Crete.
The rocks form small, close cove, which is well protected from the winds. This cove trench deeply inland so it gives the impression of fiord. This cove is, as well as Vathi cove, ideal place for isolation and meditation, a place with primeval vibrations. It chanced that we found difficult dirt track suitable for 4WD only, during our repeated trips to Vathi. Whole area lacks any kind of facilities, but the sea is unimaginable virgin and swimming in crystal clear watter is absolutely phantastic, with the views to the white limestones of the valley surrounding this cove. |
