Photographer's Note
Syros, Aegean’s nymph. This baronial island of Cyclades is in the center of the complex, enchanting visitors with its unique beauties.
Syros, the capital of Cyclades islands, is the ideal destination for short or long vacation, as it offers various options of activities, entertainment and touring. Being close to Piraeus’ port (80n.m.) and its frequent connection with it, make it popular to lovers of travelling.
Syros or Syra, as people call her, adjoins from the northeastern part to the south with Andros, Tinos, Mykonos, Naxos and Paros. From the southwestern part to the west with Sifnos, Serifos, Kithnos and Kea.
As the ship approaches the port of Ermoupolis, the first trade port of Greece, you understand why everyone call her “Lady”. The capital of the island and of Cyclades district is built in an amphitheatrical way. The baronial neoclassic buildings, the well-saved mansions of past century, the imposing churches and the traditional settlements, are the first picture to fill your sight.
Touring around the island can be full of surprises. Syros has an extend of 86sq.km and characterizes for the alteration of sceneries. As you walk through the inland you see infertile hilly bulks giving their place to fertile plains and cosmopolitan beaches giving their place to small, isolated coves.
Villages with traditional architecture and coastal resorts with imposing mansions, reveal the uniqueness of this island.
Syros is a cosmopolitan island, with tourist development. Options for entertainment satisfy all tastes. Apart from bars and clubs with live music, there’s a cinema and a theater in the island. While for those wanting to challenge their luck, Casino is there waiting for them.
As for accommodation, options are many. There are hotels and rooms to let in Ermoupoli and in the other tourist resorts, affordable for everyone.

Bonsoir Ilias,
Très belle photo particulièrement intéressante par la richesse de la palette des couleurs.
Cependant je la trouve légèrement floue et sur-exposée. Je tente donc un atelier...

I didn't see any real difference in the workshop photo (sorry, Rejean), but I agree that it needs a little bit of work. It is too contrasty as it is now. Also, I would like to see some street or whatever it is at the bottom of the photo. You have indefinite boundaries on all 4 sides, and that leaves it without any anchor. (Also, the blue copyright strip deludes one into thinking it's water, which then disappoints when we realize it is not.)
Good concept.

A nice chaotic image of buildings. I agree it misses some "fuel" (contrast, maybe, or a bit of saturation). Actuallty I do not like the choice of the frame. I think it consuses the eys. A black, simple square would have been better, I think.

Hejsan Illias
Nice to see such nice mosaik over the town, and to see that greece is mor then blue and withe when it cames architecture. I'm a bit puzzled to the lower frame and byliner wich I think need more distinction.
Otherwise great shot.

Have to agree with a few of the writers before. It is a nice shot, from a nice place (have spend a week on Syros too this summer; in Galissas). I guess the POV is good, atleast there are no distracting cables or other objects in the frame. Something I had..when taking photo's in this port. But the depth is..well everything appears kinda flat, since distances in close to us and far from us, this distance is narrow.
No foreground details, or other objects that tell of any depth.
I also agree with Wandering Dan on the border, the blue on the bottom in this case distracts..faking a sea and it is disappointing when you realize it is not. Also agree on that a black square would be better, or a white, but I would prefer black I think. And then add your name in white.
The contrast can be pushed a bit further, aswell as colour saturation.
I think it is a nice photo though, for example as a small image in a travel guide orso, just to show the many different colours used in the architecture here.
Tfs & regards.
