Photographer’s Note
Megisti, Meis, Castellorizzo or Castelrosso; Grecian, Turkish and South Italian and Italian names for a so small island of just 9 square kilometers and at less than 1.3 kilometers from the Anatolian coast of Kaş.
There are several hypotheses about the origin of the name of the island. While there is a wide consensus that "Kastello" comes from the Italian word "Castello", meaning "Castle", the second part of the name could stem from the words:
"rosso" (Italian: "red"), either from the reddish colour of the rocks of the island (although they are rather greyish), or from the colour of the coat of arms of the Great Master of the Knights of Rhodes Hederia, which stands above the gate of the castle;
"rizon" (Greek: "root"), meaning "slope" of the mountain where the castle was built;
"horizon" (French). In this case the name would have been given by the Knights of Rhodes headed by Folques de Villaret who, conquering the island in the XIV century, were so impressed by the landscape as seen from the island, that they named the castle after it.

Hi Paolo,
Great colours here, fantastic how that sea water produces all these different colour tones. Vertical composition is excellent, together with those tiny island it has a lot of depth in it...very good.
Have a nice day, Henk

You've framed this colourful scene very well with the clifftop rock formations in the foreground, and the colours here are stunning.
The colour of the sky at the top of the frame is in danger of heading a bit too far in the cyan direction, but it's not too bad.
Overall, it's a very well taken Paolo, good work.
Cheers,
Ben

Hello Paolo,
your image is so nice! I like very much the colors of the sea that probably a polarizer filter enhanced the appearance. Thank you for sharing. Regards,

Ciao Paolo,
Grazie infinite: mi manca tanto e tu me l'hai ricordata.
Buona Settimana
Paolo

I like how you have framed the view through the opening in the rocks. You chose your focal point carefully so the rocks were in focus too. The tiny islands are diagonally placed so our eye easily "hops" from one to the other. "Greek Island hopping" is a popular passtime :)

Fantastic POV and framing, Paolo. I visited the other side, the Kas coast and I think I'm seeing the island that hides the Kekova underwater city. Gorgeous place and amazing colors all over the image. Great shot.

Hi Paolo!
Katelorizo is a small, but great Island. The Lykian coast of Turkey is very beautiful too of course. I liked both places very much, when I visited them a few years ago.

hi..
nothing to say about color..it is good..but the over exposed area(the mountain) little bit disturbing the eyes and horizontal line is almost middle of the frame.I think you can crop more on upper side of the frame ..best wishes..subir

Ciao Paolo,
Bella foto.
Un saludo,
Josep

Yeah, good point to show that Turkey and Greece are so close to each other. This is somehow perfect, somehow unfortunate because it sometimes causes problems between the political dandies of both countries. A magical post Paolo, to show everyone the beauty of this wonderful, shared nature. TFS.

Hi Paolo,
Fantastic windows you gives here. It's a very good idea framing the shot in this way, the climbing down sensation is impressive. And the colors, and clearity of the colors and lights is superb. I like overall the gradiant colors and textures of the water. Marvellous! Thanks.

Hi Paolo.
This is a great postcard (in the very good sense of the word) from the Rhodes area and the way you have framed it wih the rocks in the foreground is superb, and enhances the beauty of the incredibly colorful waters. I can never get bored with the different aspects of the Aegean area. The vertical crop is perfect to make the composition dynamic.
Thanks for sharing!

Hi Paolo,
beautiful palette .. a thoughtful meditation .. I love how the vertical frame still captures the feeling of the vastness extending off frame to the right and left .. I wish the near stone was not quite so bright .. but wonderful image.

Ciao Paolo,
I saw two pieces of art in your collection. One is are a portrait of wonderful colors and beautifully framed and the other is in your intro as a quote. Difficult to say which one is more amazing. Your composition or the babbling of the most "powerful" man in the world. I love the documentation of both.

Hi Paolo - it seems noise reduction software has sofened the textures in the sea a bit, but the shades of blue still look pretty, I like the way the rocks frame the sides. I remember watching an italian film that was filmed on this island a while ago.

Hey Paolo,
That amazing 'bottle' green blending with the Grecian blue waters plus the inclusion of the mountain as frame makes it all pop-out! The entire horizon (english) glows like murano glass with it's vibrant colours!
All the best!
