Quarry of marble
The marble was always abundant,familiar material in Naxos.With this made eminent lions of Delos island and in other big Greek holy,where exists need for emonumental expression.The marble culters of Naxos influence more generally this first monumental art, after the statuaries leave from the quarries having suffering the wholesale configuration.

Λατομείο μαρμάρου
Το μάρμαρο ήταν ανέκαθεν άφθονο,οικείο υλικό στη Νάξο.Με αυτό έφτιαξαν τους περίφημους λέοντες της Δήλου και άλλα μεγάλα Ελληνικά ιερά,όπου υπήρχε ανάγκη για μνημειώδη έκφραση.Οι Νάξιοι μαρμαροτεχνίτες επηρεάζουν γενικότερα την πρώτη αυτή μνημειώδη τέχνη,αφού τα έργα φεύγουν από τα λατομεία έχοντας υποστεί τη χονδρική διαμόρφωση.

It look as if a building is being carved out of the mountain. Good capture of this interesting place. The winding road leading to the quarry is a good focal point and the clarity and saturation of colours excellent. Thanks Danos.

Hi Danos,
The view is nice, but not exactly stunningly beautiful, but the compo excels and it is very intresting as documentary. That diagonal coming up from the lower right corner, the cut marble on one of the golden points and the winding road make it very attractive. The clarity and sharpness help a lot also.

Excellent view over the marble quarry which makes me think a bit of a pyramid construction. I like the way the slope on the right is creating a diagonal, the light and colors.

Πραγματι πιο πολυ μοιαζει με "εικαστικη" παρεμβαση παρα με λατομειο μαρμαρου!Πολυ ωραια συνθεση με το σημειο που διαλεξες να αυξανει κατακορυφα το ενδιαφερον,ο δρομος οδηγει το ματι στο θεμα.Πολυ καλη δουλεια και πολυ σημαντικο σημειωμα.Μπραβο!

Απίστευτο τοπίο! Και εμένα με γοητέυουν τα νταμάρια, έστω και αν με μελαγχολούν γιατί είναι η απτή απόδειξη ότι αιώνες τώρα ο άνθρωπος "πληγώνει" τη Γη. Η φωτογραφία πολύ όμορφη, σαν τεράστιον γλυπτό. Συγχαρητήρια!

Grreat pov the one you have chosen to show this amazing place in Aegean. The road reminds of me of one in Mallorca island. The road itself achieves to give depth and sense to your image, having this marble mountain as the reference, but in a beautiful context!

Olá Danos, very impressive effect on the scenery. In the thumbnails I thought that I was looking at the back of a dinossaur and I can confirm that here: his long neck is just descending the side of the mountain to the right. Unfortunately, you didn't manage to capture his head, since he was so big :)) Love the widing road at left FG, although I would like to see a bigger impact of it, may be with a bit more FG and less sky. Excellent original post.

PS. By the way ;The dolmades in our case are been made in two ways. One with meat and rice and cooked. The other one with only rice (some rasins and pine cernels) and cooked in oil and cold eaten. The first one we eat with yoghurt. The second one with ouzo (rakı) or wine !

The curves of the highway take the look to us towards this great quarry, where your photo shows us the detail of the blocks of marble carved in the mountain, which they look like a building.

Lep pogled na put i kamenolom, lepa fotografija.
