A photo taken when i was Greek island hopping in the mid 90s, Paros was my favourite island & so hot i burnt my back & needed hospital treatment. Taken with a Canon AE1 Program film camara, sorry the shot lacks a little quality but i think posting it like this helps, hope you like it.

good composition! I like this boat on the foreground.
I add this one in my theme about desaturation effect.

Nice play of combination of B&W and colors ... I've palyed with it also today.
Result is very good. It directs your eyes to the subject.

Hello Wilson -
I like it! On the whole the image lacks something but with your converting to B&W and painting back the boat the image has new life. Well done!
Thanks for sharing

Hi, Wilson. A good composition with this boat well placed in the left corner of your image. Your partial desaturation works well here to bring out the boat and create contrast. The boats in the background form a nice diagonal line.
renerob (601) 2007-01-19 9:44
I like how you have placed the boat to one side, and coloured it with a vivid orange,
to make it stand out against the B&W image, but you should have put some factor 35 on your back i hope you lent your lesson, mam knows best,

Hi Wilson. Hospital treatment, for sunburn, that is bad!! Nice work, excellent composition and POV make this shot. Your PP focuses the eye on the FG boat and the BG boats add repetition and depth. Thanks for sharing.

I like your (or Canon's ?) color work a lot.
I find the lack of quality being an add to the overall atmosphere of the picture.
Gustaw (21670) 2007-01-19 15:03
It is good idea! Black and white photo and yellow boat. Nice composition, well done. I like your idea of colours and light.
VeeJayCee (2410) 2007-01-19 17:18
Hi Wilson. My film scans never come out very well either but I think this works ok with the selective colour. It might be better without the other boats but either way it's pretty good.
adores (34730) 2007-01-19 19:46
It's very good for an old scanned photo. The composition is really nice. I like the combination of colours you have made, it even reminds me of the story of the ugly duck.
Have a nice weekend!

Lovely composition. Great contrast between the colour boat and the others in the background.
pat0500 (21561) 2007-01-22 16:40
Good idea to put the boat color and the remainder in black and white.
Good framing and good point of view, good shot..!

I am always attracked to photos like this because I am fascinated and have no idea of how people accomplish this one colourful subject and everything else B&W. Very nice indeed the colour of the boat is superb.
danyy (0) 2007-01-24 12:24
Orinµginal.
With best regards.

Greta POV, nice combination of B&W and colours.Good image and composition. Well done...
JCG (35129) 2007-02-04 8:03
Well considering the idea of the desaturation to emphasize the boat of foreground. A pretty framing with these aligned boats. Original and successful composition.
With all my friendships and very good Sunday.

Hi Wilson. I like to see dinghies, they have a strange appeal. Your use of colour in the front one and black and white appearance of the distant ones has a striking effect. Congratulations. Murray.

your bad recollection from Paros and the AE1 reminded me my own adventure somewhere else.Very nice composition,I like this boat on the foreground, but and the others in the background.Nice play of combination of B&W and the color boat. It's very good for an old scanned photo.Well done.

Emiel_Skyfreak (3002) 2007-02-21 2:27
Fine shot, I like the contrast between colour and black & white. The boat is placed on a nice position in the frame. The line of boats in the distance is also fine.
Well seen and taken back in those days.
gunbud (34066) 2007-02-21 21:00
Nice touch with the foreground in color and b&w background. This highlights this colorful dinghy which we see alot in Greece and Turkey.
pinakie_slg (861) 2007-03-08 7:28
i liked it in all its way. well composed and presented. good work done.
TeresaT (10806) 2007-03-19 17:59

nice contrast too.
nels (2619) 2007-03-23 7:48
hello wilson,, love these type of shots your eyes are straight away drawn to the colourful forground, the lack of quality does not matter as you have got good subject matter
jcdurka1 (1950) 2007-03-30 4:58
Nice contrast between B&W and color. When I'm thinking about Greece, I'm thinking about blue. This picture change my mind of Greece that could be yellow too.
melmcree (18) 2007-04-20 13:35
I love photos like this. Some people don't care for PP but I think it makes for unique perspective. I don't have the software to do it but I wish I did. By having the boats in the background in b&w and not so sharp it makes it look like a photo from the 50's with a boat from today in the foreground. I love it.
pady (4800) 2007-05-28 12:05
A good effect for this orange boat compared with grey ones.
guillaumejm (0) 2007-07-08 14:23
What I like here is the process of keeping one part coloured and changing the other part in B&W. It always gives good result even if the sharpness is not as ggod it could be. I should try it once.

Bravo.

Good evening Wilson,
It is always a good process to keep only the colors of the subject to be shown. I like this boat put forward and his position in the image. A very pleasant artistic image. Cheer.
Have a nice evening
