Out of time, out of space, a photo from Ioannina, Epirus

Photographer's Note

Back to "base" after a 12 days trip to the beautiful town of Ioannina and its prefecture. Ioannina is one of the most beautiful Greek towns with lots to see and do. The most important "plus" is its lake (Pamvotis lake) that gives to the town a special atmospheric and romantic feeling (there is also the only inhabited island-in-a-lake, I 've seen, so far, in my life). This feeling reaches its peak when fog covers everything. Sometimes fog gets so "thick", that you think that you can "cut it with a knive", as we Greeks say. That's when everything seems to "dematerialize", that's when everything seems out of time, out of space.

Very inspired shot with a great title. You had a good knife to open the fog a bit for us! We have the same expression in french "brouillard a couper au couteau". Grat choice of B&W in this foggy atmosphere.

simple simple beauty. Just those delicate lines and that soft nothingness. The birds are a bonus, they add life, they fill the void with life. This shot is stunning. Im putting it in my favorites for sure.

Αυτη ειναι εκπληκτικη συνθεση Ηρακλη!Καταρχην το θεμα,πολυ σπανιο και πολυ καλα αποτυπωμενο σαν εικονα.Πολυ ισορροπημηνο με το ομιχλωδες τοπιο και το ασπρομαυρο να λειτουργουν λυτρωτικα.Εξαιρετικη και η ατμοσφαιρα αναδυδει ακομη πιο πολυ μυστηριο.Out of time,out of space,blowing my mind!A favorite.

Nice one, very atmospheric, the myst was really really thick indeed. The birds on these things really pop out, great contrast. Also nice that there is no disturbing background, just myst, that's great. Choice for B&W is fine, I think there was not much colour left anyway? Nice compo and fine sharpness.
In Holland we have a special name for such a appearance, I tried to translate it, maybe it's the same : disconsolate appearance? A bit sad thus, as said very atmospheric catch!

Ah... demuestras tener buen ojo con esta foto. La ambientación, casi fantasmagórica, le aporta un qué muy importante a la foto.
El lago, la niebla, esas estructuras metálicas y los pájaros.

Sin duda me gustaría visitar este lugar.

Wow! this shot has such a weird feeeling to it.
The grid structures with the birds sitting on them are amazing coming out of the mist. Wonderful composition and the black and white enhances the mysterious mood.

Wonderful perspective. After all those blue shades coming out of Greece this one in B&W is so symbolic. You can almost feel the fog hitting you. The birds are a bonus.

En medio de la nada, eso es lo que parece efectivamente. Muy buen título para una foto minimalista, en el que estas construcciones con aves parecen surgir de la nada... parece una película futurista de mundos que renacen tras el ocaso de este. Nice work, this is a really moody and interesting abstract composition. The simplicity work svery well, and without anything visible between the two structures except for the negative space, there seems to be no real sense of scale at all... which only contributes to the abstract feel.

Definitely a great title and a nice subject. The title is just wonderful. The first feeling one can have from this photo if someone does not notice the title, will be that. A great execution of a simple idea. Nice pov and wonderful effect of the foggy atmosphere.

Oh this is a great one, Hercules. Apart from the obvious surrealistic beauty of this foggy scene with the strange constructions, what makes for the impression for me are the birds. I think those are cormorants, we also have them in Holland. They seem here like the only "inhabitants" of the masts of a sinking ship, which will soon disappear completely, judging by the second, "falling", construction. Excellent work.

Hola Hercules,
la niebla crea un ambiente de misterio y un poco onírico. El blanco y negro aumenta el contraste entre los distintos tonos de la gama de grises.
Las estructuras que aparecen en la imagen son extrañas, y tienen un aspecto "hitchcockiano" un poco inquietante. Imteresantes reflejos en lo que debe ser el agua del lago, que la niebla se encarga de difuminar.

Hola Hercules, repasando tu galería he tropezado con esta imagen que me ha llamado la atención por la simpleza de detalles pero muy intrigante con la estructura que emerge del agua y los pájaros posados en ella... todo ello ambientado con una niebla que le da el punto fantasmagórico como dice alguien por ahí.
