Photographer’s Note

This is Agios Spyridon a church built at approx. 1740-1750. You can see the typical Maniot bell tower, so unique in style. Another important feature is the ancient marbles embedded around the door, on top of it and around the windows, presumably taken from an ancient temple in the same location. This is a family church and belongs to the complex of the Mourtzinos clan. On the right you can see the tower of the family. The Greek war hero of independence Theodoros Kolokotronis was a friend of the family and had stayed several times here.
