Photographer’s Note
Hi all,
For the last time I want to share with you, the highschool I saw when I drove through Sami, Kefalonia. I first saw it when we we're driving by, heading to the Drogarati Cave. I liked it's appearance in the short moment I saw it, I knew I had to photograph it. But saved doing so for the way back. We we're just spending a day on Kefalonia, and approached from the north, from Fiskardo. Where the ferryboat stops.
This is one of my results from photographing this gymnasium. Another example, from another side of the school, other POV thus also, is featured here.
This shot is taken from the west side of the school, from a small road next to it, through a fence. While the other two I shared, are taken through the fence at the (front) entrance (north). [map info available]
If you look along the wall on the left, you see two benches, appearing as crosses on your screen. Between them to the left, that is the entrance corridor. The other shots are taken through that corridor, which leads to the highschool's square, which we can see partially now.
The school was abandoned as it was the end of august, and very, very hot.
I liked the lines on the left wall coming together in the distance. Also liked the different tones.
Like a bit less those plants, but didn't want to do major cropping there.

Hey Emiel,
Well despite being abandoned, the premises is very clean, what makes the photo so still and lifeless is the unmaintained landscape surrounding the building e.g. centre 'garden square'. The building looks fine, no graffiti or any form of vandalism seen. Hope they wont tear it down.
The earlier image shows more of the aesthetics of the building, its character and entire elevation showing the architectural lines. While this photo shows its 'state of abandoness' leaning more into 'editorial' image.
Well presented dude!
Cheers!

Emiel
I agree that the building has potential for photography and can understand why you noted it for future reference. Prehaps if all the overgrown grass were to be cropped out of the image you could also produce separate images of form, patterns, shape and colour. The blue of the sky would be a good addition to any picture
Regards Colin
