Photographer’s Note

Lindos (in Greek – Λίνδος) is a town and an archaeological site on the east coast of the island of Rhodes, in the Dodecanese in south-eastern Greece. It is about 55km south of the town of Rhodes and its fine beaches make it a popular tourist and holiday destination.

Lindos is situated in a large bay and faces the fishing village and small resort of Haraki.

Above the modern town rises the acropolis of Lindos (I will display later), a natural citadel which was fortified successively by the Greeks, by the Romans, the Byzantines, the Knights of St John and the Ottomans. This makes the site difficult to excavate and interpret archaeologically. The acropolis offers spectacular views of the surrounding harbours and coastline.

Regarded as the "Pearl of Rhodes"...a beautiful place.

Hi Dave,
This is wondeful - the colors are very alive with a great combination of white blue and green.
Nice diagonal line across the image of the slope against the sea.
The greens in the foreground add a lot - I like it

Beautiful Greek landscape, the composition is very good, I like as they contrast the colors, green, blue and white, it seems a small paradise, great shot!

A very well balanced and effective composition, with the eye following the rise of the hill to the citadel. The quality of the image is very good, with natural hues and tones. The textured sky is most enhancing and helps create a mellow ambience here. Its a keeper, David.

This is a lovely image with the typical Greek buildings and the beautiful blue sea and sky. The inclusion of the rocky little islands and the boats gives the photo great appeal. Thank you for sharing.

Hi David,
I'd be hard pressed to compare my simple hillsides with the lovely detail you captured here of the azure sea surrounding the dock and Islands and the white villas clinging to the rocky hillside. The light and color are magic here.

Hi David,
I like the way as you have organized this composition. The diagonal from a corner up to other one divides in two very elegant parts the image. The half of the right with the green vegetation and the nice white houses rising for the hill, and the left half with the fantastic blue sea, the small port with the ships and the islands. All the elements are very beautiful and create a great photo, very pleasant, with great lighting and a few excellent colors.

Hi David,
thanks for your visit and critiques. I discovered you were on Rhodes this year (me in 2001). Lindos is a nice town and you made a wonderful shot here. My memories tell me less green, but we were there in summer.
I am waiting for your Acropolis photo, as this one here is well done.

did you take a donkey ride up to the acropolis? *g* i didn´t.
excellently composed shot with many terrific details -
the nice blue water matching the sky, the boats, the rocky
islands, the green plants and the wonderful typical white houses.
would like go back there for a nice vacation...booked 2 weeks
Tel-Aviv for next year instead.*g*

Hi David,
This wonderful image came up randomly and I must say it displays excellent contrasting colors and stunning details. The cloud pattern makes lovely horizontal lines across the pastel sky and creates striking depth to this fine photo.
