We three

In the foreground three ships in Volos Bay. Volos the third harbour of Greece and it’s industrial base is the oldest of Greece.

In the background is down town Volos and it's main boulevard with its famous and delightful tripouradika.
It’s the only Greek city with a rigidly modernist urban grid. Large parts of Volos were destroyed during the earthquake of 1955 and the city decided that is was a good time to rethink the structure of the town. An urban design contest was held and this was won by an American urbanist propagating a square grid.

Another capture of this place shot from another angle 2 years ago by Cherubin is here. This one was shot from a hill near the entrance of the Demetrias archeological site.

We three is a track from the Pattti Smith Group from her 1978 album Easter, released on Arista.

PCS2 tech: slightly cropped, altered the contrast, saturation, curves and levels for the whole pic and some elements separately, enhanced the colour surfaces, -edges and luminosity, USM-ed , added a frame and saved for the web.

Hoi Bert,

John

Hi Bert,
An interesting perspective, with the three large ships in the foreground and the vast city beyond. There is much for the eye to absorb in the photo, and I like the layered effect, with the little lighthouse on the pier/breakwater helping divide the frame. Well seen and captured, with an interesting note.

Hej Bert,
Mooie werk vanaf een goede POV! Dit groepje schepen is goed in de voorgrond geplaatst. De achtergrond met de stad ziet er ook zeer mooi uit. Ik houd altijd wel van zo'n gezicht op een stad. Prima werk! Fijne avond.
Groeten,
Lars

Hi Bert,
very well choosen point of view and colours are very true and nice, a good image quality!!!
regards,
imre

Interesting view, and interesting old cargo boats. When I see traders like thi I wonder how they still manage to operate in this containerised world, suitable ports must be very limited for them now, though I see one carries around it's own loading gear.

Olá Bert
Bonita foto e bem interessante também. Gosto da composição, das cores em harmonia e da neblina ao fundo. O contraste dos prédios com a grande e velha embarcação é marcante.
Grande abraço,
Vera.

HI Bert, very interesting image!i like a lot the colour tones here and your compo. The depth has been managed very well!

Ciao!

Valeria

Hi, Bert!
Very good capture, I love the composition, isolated boats in first plane and a crowded city in the BG. A very vivid and sharp image.
Regards, my friend, and TFS.

Hi Bert,

Nobody could say that this is a wonderful scene. Anyway, ugly things are also what you see when your are traveling and well worth taking a photo of. When you see this you ask yourself a lot of questions how long has those wrecks been there? who owns? them who left the there? You also realize that you could take pretty interesting pictures of ugly things. And if start to take pictures you might discover that the subject of your photos are not that ugly after all. A really great idea and a really good picture my friend.

Cheers,

Ulf

Hi Bert,
the boat in the middle seems in trouble to me... but is a nice and sharp photo full of interesting details. I like the view to the part of the town in the background also.
Have a nice weekend,
Tomi

Hello Bert,
Very interessting composition for your image.A clasic urban scene.I like the point of view you choose for your shot.A clear foreground with these old ships and the foggy city of Volos in the backround.A very good one Bert,
all the best to you,
Thomas

hi bert
Good presentation of the harbour environment of this city and a good choice with the 3 foreground ships. A little difference to the usual 'tourist' shots of the place.

Actually, that's a sad compo. The boats are waiting to die, far from the city, in the background. A good pov and an interesting white light.
Stéphane

Yasoo my friend

Very nice and complex shot with great framing. I like how you placed the boats into your frame. Nice work.

Bonjour Bert
Les bateaux sont bien mis en évidence par un bon point de vue entourés par une légère brume, ce qui donne une composition très intéressante.

Hello Bert!
Great scene with the three ships together, and they are interesting for their hard colours on the delicate back!
Very good done!
Best regards!
