I see this a bit as another tryout. I hope you will like it!
This is the entrance of the Drogarati Cave. You'll find this cave 2,7 km southwest from Sami, on Kefalonia. That's why I added it to Sami, which is also the district it is located in. Didn't have an own section yet, don't want to create for just this one photo. (I've put in map info, see it if you like)
I liked the curves the stairs make going deeper inside the cave, so I took this shot. I think the colours of the lights and the cavewall are also pretty nice, hope you feel the same. Handheld shot

[Info on Drogkarati Cave :]
Open: All year daily 8:30-20:30. And opened for public since 1963.
Fee: Adults €4, Children €2.
Classification: Karst cave.
Ambient temperature is always 18°C, we walked down from 42°C till 18°C, that's some difference! But the worst is when you walk up again! It gets warmer with every step..and your doing the effort to climb the stairs! Hot! Humidity = 90%.
The actual chamber of the cave is located 60 meters deep and 30 by 40 meters big at widest points.
Inside there are many stalagtites (on the ceiling) and stalagmites (on the ground). A stalagtite grows 1cm in 100 years, some are really huge, maybe about a meter! The many stalactites & stalagmites are created by rain, which comes through the rocky level of the cave, it corrosses it and deposites its elements (calcium etc) on the edge of the stalactites. If I remember well they also have colours due to rain ingredients, for example low concentrations of copper.
Unfortunately, many stalactites are broken, some of them because of the earthquakes which terrorize the Ionian (I name 1953). Some others because of human lack of sense for the magnificent natural piece of work. The big hall of the cave (900m²), is called "Sala of Apotheosis" because of its perfect acoustics (!) It's therefore also used for concerts and other shows!! It can accomodate 500 people.
There is also a balcony in the cave, but it's definitly mans work. It's called the Royal Balcony as royal people may look to performances from there. Performers and audience are on the floor of the mail chamber of the cave, which is called Chamber of Exaltation or just Concert Room. The performers stand on slightly raised recess in the wall flanked by stalagmites.
[/info, sources as found from Google]
Like so many Greek caves, this cave is illuminated only by yellow lamps, making the cave look dark and a little sick. I've shoot a lot of photo's inside, but I don't like the total yellow results, no colour variations and also not so much contrast and depth.
Flashing with internal flash didn't make better images in my opinion.
That's it :)

This is an excellent photograph, and a superior explanation, entirely in complience with both the photography and the geography components of TrekEarth. Regards, Bulent

Yes you have done something a bit different here...a nice experiment..I like it.The winding stair has given a nice effect...drawing you down into the image. The yellow light at top is a bit distracting but not a lot to do about that.Well done.

Caves and cages are not easy to shoot. You did well my friend. I am impressed how you managed to keep the focus so intact.

Nice pic. The repetition of the stairway allows for a sense of movement. Also, the warm tones give it an otherworldly feel.

I don't mind coming down a few flights, but the temperature and humidity can drain you, specially on your way back up!
Amazing cave walls, all set with dramatic lights. This image shares very well the experience...Thanks dude!
