Seeing these tree logs and the forest beyond them i felt very strange.I combined these tree logs with the other trees thinking that in the future propably, and the others will come to this condition.

I love this photo, it is soft and calm with natural colour tones
ninadev (5377) 2004-03-01 7:18
I find this shot very interesting. I like that you took a shot at logs that are not piled up as we often do. The color of these logs makes a nice contrast against the white snow but also against the foggy background which almost looks B&W.
I do find the road a little annoying mainly because there is only a little section of it. I think that a different position to avoid or include completely the road would have worked better.

Great shot George,
I get felling of calm when I look to your photo. Great colors and detail. I like that wood in front.

your title intrigued me. Thanks for the note; it is very good seen. Pity for the road.

This doesn't look like Greece to me! It is true that the photo has a very soft feel, the snow on the logs looks like fluffy cotton and the haze in front of the fir trees makes them evanescent... I agree with Nina about the road being disturbing.
Banlieusardises (324) 2004-03-01 7:44
I feel some kind of sadness looking at this scene: with the ambiant fog, it almost looks like a cinema battlefield, when soldiers finally stop fighting and look respectfully at their deads.
Of course, if the road hadn't been there, it would have been absolutely perfect, but then again... bravo for this very beautiful shot.

A very fine composition George. The logs are just perfect as a foreground for the foggy forest. Very well done..

Wow...beautiful colors, good low angle and the distant mist added a certain mystic to this shot. I like how the logs break the subtle colors of all others. A GREAT picture. Congratulations!

Very nice photograph. One of my favorite. I like the framing. The effect created by the fog is spectacular. I like your note too.
richtersl (3546) 2004-03-01 12:35
A very srtiking photo! The trees look like they've come to mourn their lost friends. The fog adds the perfect touch. Well done.

L'image est très bonne à mes yeux et je ne vois rien qui puisse gâcher cet endroit.
Le contraste est bon et cette profondeur choisi intéressante.
Vous avez su mettre ici le sujet bien en valeur.

This is such a great photo! The mist in the background is eerie, and there is a lot of atmosphere in the photo. Great composition too, I like the balance between everything. Very well done!

Good note and illustration of climate variety in Greece

i like your winter shots a lot George, the snow and the fog here are so live! i just realised your title, its perfect. nice work!

The picture is soft but it works in this photo because it enhances the contrast between the dead and the living trees. Oraia ximoniatiki fotografia Giorgo. Vathmoi avrio giati mou teliosan simera.

Very nice photo, and I like particularly the 'white' fog.
carmem_busko (3718) 2004-08-27 16:14
Great title and composition. The perpective is very good and the contrast between defined textures of death and smoothness of life tells an awesome history. Oustanding picture, in my favorites.
Xalkida (11744) 2004-08-31 13:25
Very nice shot! The fog, the snow, the "dead" woods... Smart photo!
chappy77 (306) 2004-11-18 17:03
I really like the softness of the snow on the logs, would be nicer if you cropped off some of the top. The mist I find is a bit distracting.
Janice (4403) 2004-11-24 20:43
There is so much feeling in your shot - the trees in the fog look so calm and serene. Then you look at the cold hard 'dead' logs in front and you can feel pity for what is to come. The 3 trees on the left look as if they are standing firm together, sort of scared!! Very, very well done... Thankyou for sharing, Janice
Reine (93) 2005-05-11 7:04
Very nice note and photo! I like the way focus is put on the logs, while the living trees are watching from the foggy hill. Sort of an abstract lament for the ones no longer with us.
LEA (4984) 2005-05-11 7:06
A very nice photo with a strange tittle! The mist gives to your composition some mystery. I found this picture so nice that i putted it in my favorites!

Image douce et vaporeuse, beaucoup d'atmosphère. Donne presque le goût à l'hiver...!

Wonderful and soft with a bit of sadness.

I agree with ninadev. the road is the weakest point of this otherwise perfect pic.

Realy intresting George!
nice foggy trees in background and a clear subject in front there is a story.
what is going on to our earth?
thanks for sharing
stmcastelo (39) 2006-07-04 5:49
The colour of those trunks is amazing, they still look alive. The fog approaching the trunks makes this scene to cycle itself. Nice point of view about the “future” of the trees. Perfect composition.
leiju (1697) 2006-10-11 13:16
Excellent title for an excellent shot. Simply outstanding! I won't say more since a lot has already been said.
This is a truly marvelous shot with great colors and brilliant thinking behind. Congrats and TFS!
iGirl (1223) 2006-10-11 13:40
Hi George, this shot is wonderful, with the misty background, in contrast with the good clear focus and bright colors of the logs. Also very poetic, with your juxtaposition of the living and the dead.
Thanks for sharing!

Great and suggestive photo. The composition is perfect but the title gives another perspective.
Very well done, and a sensible attitude!
