Photographer's Note

Santorini, or as the Greeks call it 'Thira' is a romantic outpost on top of a volcano situated just above the Sea of Crete. When the volcano erupted in 1625 B.C, it created one of the most beautiful islands. The last known eruption in 1950 created the Nea Kameni island in the center of the volcano. It is said that Santorini has more churches than houses, more donkeys than people and more wine than water. We can vouch for two of them.

The sunset is most majestic viewed from a perch on the cliff on the town of Fira or the village of Oia. Restaurants will charge a high cover charge during sunset time, but it is truly worth it to catch a special glimpse of sun setting over the volcanic islands into the sea. In 1956 an earthquake destroyed most of the island and what you see, the villages and towns have all been rebuilt since then.
