From Istanbul we moved onto Santorini Greece for a few days. My girlfriend and I both agreed that Santorini was our favorite destination on our trip through Europe, we just loved it here!
Before leaving, our dear TE friend Gert told me it may be difficult to get unique/original photos from Santorini.
So when I captured this lady in the red dress, I thought about you Gert, I hope this shows something unique and I hope I proved you wrong...haha :)
We were actually doing the 13 Km hike from Oia to Fira, a beautiful cliff edge type of hike with amazing views of the Island.
What a surprise and delight it was to capture this woman who was posing for photographs for her Husband/Boyfriend on their personal patio deck overlooking the cliffs.
She would pose in different angles, move around with her red dress blowing freely in the wind, it was a moment that I just had to capture (many times haha)
Even my girlfriend Tosca was doing the same, we were both shooting photos like crazy, trying to capture her against the white background. Its just too bad I didn't have my tele lens, I had to do with my 16-50mm.
There are many more photos of her posing, but for now I think I'll leave it at this. Perhaps I'll post more later.
thanks for looking!

Dear Craig the Voyeur,
Santorini is a place I would love to visit, having seen many of the wonderful pictures from there which our friend, Brian (timecapturer), posts from time to time - and how much more attractive the place would be if it were sutable decorated by a lovely lady in red (and blue) like this!
I just hope you didn't venture too close to the edge of the cliff to capture this shot but you have come away with a brilliant photograph, the lady brightly dressed and standing out perfectly against the pure white of the brightly sunlit buildings. A fine composition too and your slightly too short lens has given you the advantage of being able also to include a fine vista of the distant town, the coastline and the deep blue sea.
Goregous light and colours, fine composition and exquisite details and sharpness - as always.

Wonderful Santorini seaside view.
This was a really lucky moment with the posing lady.
l like your photo!

I'm just amazed that a woman like that could make you think of me! What's wrong with you? ;-) ;-)
I think you met my challenge very well here. This kind of picture is not what we see everyday from Santorini. It' s a great composition with superb colors.
Actually I was stunned by the beauty of that island, just like everybody else, but generally the less crowded Greek islands are a lot nicer - and cheaper.

You had found a unique POV over this known and most photographed location. With a bit of extra luck - spotted this lady, modeling for your camera( almost sure she realizewd you were around...).
Marvelous contrast to the steep slope down to sea, white houses - a special view, like it a lot.
PaulVDV (24191) 2014-06-11 9:48
Adding red on a picture of a Greek Island with the traditional blue-white-brown colour composition is certainly a bonus.
I love that steep view down from the top of the cliff to the waterline.
Long time ago I walked from Fira to Oia and enjoyed the many impressive views.
Meanwhile the island has become very touristic ... but it's so beautiful.
Best regards, Paul

Wow you found a Greek goddess. This time I wish you had a longer lens ready. Slope down to the sea is very steep.
Whiteness of buildings is very obvious against the dark brown terrain.

nice to see you and your fabulous pics again,
Perspective and depth are perfect taken.
Wonderful picture with excellent colours and sharpness.

What can I say, when you're right, your right....I do love her...I mean, I do love it! Nah, who am I kidding....yeah, it's her! :))
Whew, this place is high on my wish list, and I don't think I've ever seen a picture from here I didn't like...and this is definitely no exception, what a cool shot. From all accounts, it's a real challenge to find a fresh take from a place so well known and photographed...but you found a little diamond in the rough with this one. Too bad you didn't have the telephoto, a close-up of this lovely lady would have been even more tantalizing. :)
What's neat about this is who's NOT seen, the other photog (or is that his head along the stone wall?). A safe bet she's posing for the camera, but it still looks organic from this capture. That dash of red and blue pops against the traditional whites, a beauty in all regards. Great scene and smart opportunity taken. Oh yeah, this is going to be an enjoyable following of your journeys! Have a good one bud. Take it easy.
Cheers from Az.,

La focale choisie ne nous permet pas de profiter au mieux de ce beau modèle (mais Tosca t'avait sans doute confisqué ton 300 mm :)). Joli(s) point(s) de vue!
emka (85407) 2014-06-11 23:39
lady in red is always great subject and you can make unique ophoto even from the much photographed place. Haha, I lately posted also lady in red in Sevilla. She definitely makes the show here, the backhground is also stunning although less attractive than in Oia.
Tomorrow my blind date, lol. I am very excited.
delpeoples (54773) 2014-06-12 3:38
Heheheh Craig, it seems you rival Santo Skippy and Jason in the dirtbag stakes ;)
And go you for getting something different from this glorious island. I love how she contrasts with the white-washed houses. And don't she look HAAAWT!? I bet Tosca gave you a slap across the back of the head after the first 50 frames ;)
Great shot, and I love the sense of height you've captured. Actually you're making me dizzy.
have a happy day, hope you're over the jet-lag

I just wanted to come back to TE to see what I have been missing and why not comment on one of your photos while I am here!
Ahhhhh, Santorini has many great memories for us so I am glad you captured this moment for us to remember. I think you selected a great photo because it seems like she is posing for you here. Props to you for trying to do more people shots :)

congratulations on an original take here. Oia is an overload of the senses as a photographer, and it is like a sugar rush with your shutter finger itching and twitching at every corner. Bet you took loads. Envious of the caldera walk, it was on my itinerary but I managed to get a knee injury just before I left so had to hire a car instead to get up to Oia. Awesome shot my friend - very stylish and captured perfectly. More please....
Sergiom (66407) 2014-06-12 5:35
Dommage qu'elle ne posait pas juste pour toi, mais il faut ce qu'il faut. Elle est superbe et prend bien la pose avec un grand sex appeal.
Comme tu n'avais pas le choix du point de vue, l'arrière plan est un peu décevant.
Noel_Byrne (27062) 2014-06-12 9:38
What a stroke of luck that was to have this beautiful lady posing like this! Her stance and clothes make her stand out so well against the beautiful white finish of the buildings, and make her look like a queen surveying her kingdom! Nicely done capture to get something so unique here, as your note says, I don't think that would be easy. Very cool!!
All the best
ourania (35948) 2014-06-12 11:53
I don't know how prepared you were for the strong light of the Greek islands but this picture confirms that you mastered it and made the most of it. The whites are marvelous and the red skirt stands out superbly against them. It's like you've given priority to certain colours, the landscape is fascinating but its tones are so discreet. The sense of depth is fantastic, the scene is intimate and spectacular at the same time. Great work, congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely day,
jhm (143573) 2014-06-13 1:38
Taken out of the height with the white houses and not forget the lady in red.
Nice panorama view about these area
A nice composition, good presentation too.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice weekend,
arnie (1803) 2014-06-13 3:32
Yep you have got an original shot not seen before of Santorini, Well spotted, the blue top and red skirt stand out against the white washed walls.
carlo62 (38164) 2014-06-15 15:38
mkamionka (32375) 2014-06-17 5:46
how do you do that! There is always a photo shooting of models or bridesmaids or at least an attractive girl passing by like in Warsaw!
There is a nice contrast here of the rough natural world and the charming white buildings. The girl adds some more life and interest of course.
jemaflor (88871) 2014-06-19 9:40
Well managed, this composition with this lady in blue and red, interesting contrast with the white walls, interesting with these two parts, white and brown.
mcmtanyel (16093) 2014-06-29 20:55
An don't forget the blue top! This is a fabulous photo with her blue/red outfit against the white background. I bet you you got better photos than her own photographer, who couldn't have been capturing her against white from his angle.
To make Jason happy, I took her photographer out. While I was at it, I lightened the shadows a bit and am uploading it to the workshop. LMKWYT!
