Photographer's Note

This building stands by the harbour of Ayia Marina. It was built more than ninety years ago and served as customs office during the Italian occupation of the Dodecanese (and maybe afterwards too). The plaque above the doorway bears the badge of the Kingdom of Italy and writes "Regina Dogana", Royal Customs.

For about 25 years now, the building has been used by the Theatrical Group of Leros for its rehearsals, studios and seminars and the smaller room on the first floor has been granted to Radio Leros. On Sunday mornings the rehearsals of the Children's Stage take place there.

Thank you for visiting
