Yellow nets piled up on the harbour side on the island of Telendos, Greece. Now in the relative safety of the harbour with its catch landed, this fishing boat awaits the approaching storm.

un beau contraste entre la quiétude de la scène du premier plan avec ce petit bateau de pêche et ses filets, la routine du pêcheur, et en fond un terrible ciel chargé annonciateur de tempête. De belles couleurs et une belle lumière.

This picture reminds me of one of my previous photos from Lefkada. Check this up: http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/Europe/Greece/photo1402704.htm
It is actually funny how much similarity there is between these tow photos although they have been taken in different islands of Greece.
Well captured and well composed, with yellow fishnet catching an eye in the foreground. Nice colors and sharpness.
Enjoy your day!

This one is great, with the boat in the foreground stacking up all sorts of things, myriad enough for the eyes.
The background is impressive too

another interesting one. Love those vibrant colours which are contrasting well and looks so beautiful in such soft light condition. Excellent shot once again. Tfs.

The yellow nets help enliven the scene and offset the rather grey sky. I like the point of view and close framing, which together help create a strong composition.

the pile of yellow nets and the attractive boat catches my eye immediately but it`s that interesting sky that I most enjoy in this well composed shot.
Have a good week.

Hello Brian ,
A superb composition . I like especially the beautiful cloudy sky .
Romano46 (18472) 2014-02-17 7:29
il colore e la composizione creano un impatto immediato anche grazie all'imponenza che il grandangolo fa assumere al peschereccio.
Una combinazione vincente che utilizzi spesso nelle tue foto che in questa trova una delle sue massime espressioni.
Ciao e buona giornata

Ha! Ha! Brian, we both posted Medusa, today!
This is a lovely shot, the saffron nets gaining immediate impact on the strong f/g triangle and quickly relinquishing their hold to the moored fishing boat. The boat has a strong 3D effect, appearing to be rising out of the water.
There is a strong contrast between the colourful f/g and the impending storm; this adds to the anticipation.
My warm regards,

Sorry to go on a tangent, but did you ever see a TV show called Under the Mountain in the 1980's? It was a kids show, and I remember that there were big bubbly mud monsters in that that terrified me. The big pile of nets there looks just like that to me! Wow, you;ve brought me back a bit with that ::
A beautiful picture, the sky in particular stands out to me as being incredibly wonderful, like a work from a great artist. The whole scene has a 3D feel and the boat seems to be jumping out of the screen at me. Beautiful final result on this, even with the monster that gave me childhood nightmares!

The light is beautiful, the composition strong (even if I think it would have been better if the yellow nest was not cut by the border of the picture), and nice contrast of colors (white, blue and yellow).
ChrisJ (117199) 2014-02-17 15:59
The yellow fishing net on the dock contrasts well against the blue underside of the fishing boat. Good sharpness and despite the overcast weather still a very pleasing shot. Natural saturation & a soft diffused light. Tfs!

Jolie composition associant des éléments aux couleurs différentes bien placés dans l'image. Beau ciel chargé en arrière-plan.

Hello Brian - You've accentuated the moody atmosphere very well here with your PP work on the sky. An image which is well composed with good light management and lots of local detail provided by the yellow net, wooden palette and wicker basket. Have a good evening. Rosemary

Hi again Brian
Hats off to your composition skills! I just love that pile of fishing nets so well exposed and providing a much welcome splash of contrasting colour.
Have a nice day

Un style d'image que j'aime, bien composer avec le bateau de pêcheur et les filets de pêche jaune sur l'avant plan, contre un ciel chargée, superbe image

a lovely scene from the little harbor of Telendos, an island that is very close to Leros, where I live. I haven't visited it yet but see from your picture that the landscape and its colours are very similar, although the boat is different and has a more austere style than the ones in our harbours:) I love the dynamism you gave to such a simple subject, the detailed and interesting surroundings, the beautiful harbour colours. A big part of the culture and fascination of the islands is portrayed here. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely month,
