A storm cloudy view from the small ferry boat that takes you across to the island of Telendos from the little coastal town of Masouri on Kalymnos. Telendos used to be part of Kalymnos until an earthquake in AD545 separated the two. Telendos lies in the Aegean Sea and is somewhat idyllic as it has no cars! Luckily the storm hit after we had landed safely in the small harbour.

Good Morning Brian,
A second attempt after the site went down ...!
I like how the prow of the boat directs attention to the central, flag bearing point and then on to the land and the horizon.
It is a very effective feature, in creating a sense of gloom or danger, that the boat is bright and colourful, yet everything outside the boat is almost monochrome.
Have a great day,
Yesterday, parts of motorways were closed in Lancs, due to the strength of the winds. 110 mph was recorded in some coastal areas! Thank goodness we are having a little respite at the moment.

une superbe composition, j'aime bien le point de vue avec la proue formant un V.
Le très belles teintes du ciel et de la mer sont en harmonie avec la couleur du bateau.

beautiful POV. Great angle of composition. I like the magnificent light you caught. Great colours. A nice frame which indicate some mood of freedom. Great shot. Tfs.

Fantastic composition from the boat. Like the way everything in this photo is heading towards the island in the distance, even the clouds. The saturated colours on the boat work well over here against the almost colourless BG. Clarity and quality are superb as usual. Excellent shot! Thanks for sharing.

This is indeed a very colourful boat, red, green and blue (and even yellow on the worn parts). The background landscape looks quite colourless in comparison. Interesting clouds, they seem to be focused on the middle point of the picture.

Ciao e buona giornata

great idea and so well executed! The picture makes me think I am actually on this boat sailing towards the lands through the moody sea.
The greyish background sets up superb contrast for the boat and its bright colors.
Very nicely composed with original approach.
Thanks for sharing and all the best

you know why I like this photo? it seems as if your the Captain of the ship!
and of course the inside of the ferry has to have some blue colors for you! haha
great looking sky! expansive and wide open skies with plenty of atmosphere.
because of the angle it looks like the clouds are moving, nice shot

Hey bad boy,
How are ya'? I love this shot, but my extremely weak stomach is churning just looking at it, thinking of the up and down, back and forth motion (hey hey hey, don't even! ;)) as it makes it's way through the waters. I'm amazed I even survived the quick trip out to Alcatraz Island without refunding my lunch!? Must be all of that fizzy Coke, yeah?
Seriously though, this is a super composition that puts us right up front, and using the sides of the boat to guide the eye straight forward is brilliant. And if that's not enough, the primary colors contained within the boat and their contrast against the darkened sky are tremendous. Now, I need to lean over the bow and work up some chum for the fish. Land ahoy! Happy Friday! Take it easy.
So happy to hear of your gold medal achievement in those Olympics! (big grin)

Belle utilisation de l'avant du bateau qui apporte cette intéressante touche colorée contrastant avec le ciel un peu gris.

Simple scene, but the graphics and colors are just amazing here!Colorful boat and grey, looking almost monochromatic BG makes here really eye-catching and expressive combination.
Have a nice day

Beautiful composition. I like how the light in the sky merge in the horizon accentuated by the tip part of the ferry boat. Nice colors and light management.

The distant peaks look volcanic in origin. A striking contrast between the colorful deck of the boat in green and blue and the dull grey bg. Good sharpness and diminishing linear perspective provided by the dual sides of the ferry. Tfs!

Beautiful composition. I like the way the bright colors of the boat jump out against the cloudy sky and dark sea. Having the front end of the ferry in the foreground is great, since we can feel like we are also taking the journey. I really like the atmosphere of this photo and place.

Hello Brian - I am always a little nervous of small boats on rough seas and your composition here shows the impending storm quite dramatically through the dark sky and darker water. I might have chosen to say at home! However the little boat does seem to be steering a straight and determined course to the island. I love the way you have filled the lower frame with the prow of the boat, the colours, textures and highlighted rope add good detail to the whole. Have a nice dry weekend. Rosemary

original version taken from an original
and excellent point of view
this storm cloudy view from the small
ferry boat that takes you to the island
of Telendos the colors of this capture
create a moody atmosphere and a sense
of danger but I liked a lot
because it is almost artistic
the red and the blue add beauty
into this grey atmosphere
have a nice Sunday

I think I can smell the sea as I look at this picture, and I think I an feel the bobbing of the boat, you really captured the sen of being at sea in this image. The color is very striking too, the boat is so colorful and vibrant in comparison the cold blue grey of the sky.
The little island looks the kind of place I would expect to find King Kong on!
