A red stone wall in one of the less touristy areas of the picturesque town of Oia on the volcanic island of Santorini, Greece. Even off the beaten track the iconic domes and blue and white architecture prevail.

This is so colourful.
It is summer encapsulated!
Your pov is wonderful; it carries the viewers effortlessly, from the red wall in the f/g, up the step-like details of the friendly buildings, to the opposing corner of sapphire blue sky. Acrisp, textured rendering of all that is Greek.
Have a lovely day,

Lovely shot Brian. The colours, textures and composition show yet another example of the wonderfully photogenic qualities of Oia. I like the layers of building as we look upwards from the red wall to the deep blue sky Bright and sunny and an attractive image for the day. Warm regards Rosemary
PS. Thanks for the comments on your work with the filter. I have a 10 stop Hi-tech which is challenging the lack of expertise in my PP work!

les toits sont bleus comme le ciel; un beau cadrage en vertical pour nous montrer cette architecture typique avec couleurs

the red wall, blue dome, white buildings and the blue sky... Love such layers of contrasting colours and you presented it very well with endless depth and superb light. Sharpness and clarity are also superb. Excellent work. Tfs.

And so back to your beloved Sanorini - and another fine view of the beautiful and intriguing architecture of Oia.
That red foreground wall certainly holds the whole composition tohgether very effectively as also does the heavy bold dividing wall running upwards from it. The same red stonework is echoed in the frontage of the church with its red doors and windows, but the real star of the show is the bright blue dome atop the church, contrasting so effectively with the pure while walls and roof.
Gorgeous light and colours, perfect exposure and exquisite depth of field and sharpness.

What a contrast between the perfectly whitewashed roofs and blue domes so typical to Santorini and the rather humble red stone wall. Isn't it often that of the beaten track one finds the most rewarding subjects?
have a great evening

i colori sono quelli che colpiscono l'attenzione anche per un daltonico, il paesaggio è da fiaba, tutto insieme è da sogno....

As usual, you photograph the greek islands in a very special way!
I love this one, specially for its colors, exposure and composition!
TFS - congrats,

I'm struggling to find the rights words, this is kind of a sensory overload for me...I love it! :) This has virtually everything that I enjoy wrapped up into one package. The colors are vivid, the shapes...oh, so many shapes...the patterns, form, function, exposure...on and on and on. I don't mean to be overly emphatic, but this one is a cracker of a shot...and of course my favorite as you mentioned in your note, getting off the beaten track! Brilliant! Enjoy the new day.
p.s. thanks for a good chuckle today from your note. :)

I think it won´t be easy for me to find something new to photograph on my trip to Santorini in September:)
But th eview is really lovely. It shows excellently how unique located is the village and of course how beautiful and picturesque it is.Colors and contrast between them are delightuful.

You've imported your red peebles from the UK beach to the Greece island!
Nice color contrast with the white houses and blue dome.
kasianowak (8885) 2013-07-20 5:13
Another beauty from Santorini. Amazing vibrant colours, the blue domes look as if a bit of sky has fallen down from above...
Have a lovely day

always when I already think that nobody can surprise me anymore with photos from Santorini you come up with a new wonderful composition. This place is obviously beautiful but I really admire your creativity with so many various compositions, points of view, light conditions... This is a fantastic capture again and reminds me that I really want to go there some day.
