The skyline, colours and atmosphere of the town of Symi, a little picturesque and idyllic Greek Island haven of the same name. This small island is part of the Dodecanese chain and lies just 41km north west of Rhodes where one can get a ferry boat out to this beautiful place.

Beautiful warm and bright colors. The open
water makes the picture nice calmness and
the layers (water-land with houses and sky)
creates a nice depth. Light management is

This is really a most attractive town with its wonderful array of nicely painted houses. I like the point of view looking across the bay with slightly more emphasis given to the gently glistening waters. As always, a perfectly presented image with good light, colours and clarity.

Good Morning Brian,
This looks more like high summer than May, some indication of the climate of this pretty island.
A fine thirds composition, showing varied colours and textures, the multi-coloured buildings showing the way up the hillside like an ornate staircase.
A well judged dof for this shot.
Have a lovely day,

This is a really fantastic view of these houses, with their classically fine architecture and a great array of colours. That it is presented with such beautiful blue tones in the sky and in the water is even more impressive! Thansk for sharing this postcard perfect pic.
All the best

It's like a sandwich of colorful architecture, a splash of color, predominating the blue and brightness, pic obviously yours.

Hello Brian - The colourful buildings are sandwiched between the most glorious shades of blue. I note in particular the attractive wisps of cloud; they give the shot perspective and a subtle feeling of movement. Very nice! Warm regards rosemary

a splendid picture of Symi, I appreciate this wonderful and accurate description very much. The composition consists of three layers combined in a most effective way so that the frame has great balance and encompasses the essence of the place. I love the rich colours and the brilliant light that gives a special charm to the scenery and is most enjoyed from a nice shadow:) The colour and texture of the sea is mesmerising. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely evening,

Nice typical architecture of Symi and pleasant colours. I was there in May 1995, before and during the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the end of the war. I had read that the end of war agreement for this part of the world had been signed in one of the houses in the port. Was looking for it everywhere but couldn't find it. After a couple of days, I saw a poster on the house where I had my room: it had been signed right under where I was sleeping! (The yellow 3-story house). Thanks for bringing back this funny memory. Claude.
