Loading a cargo ship, a photo from Kyklades, South Aegean

Photographer's Note

with one of the lot of the mineral resources of the Melian earth.

The island is famous for the statue of Aphrodite of Milos(the "Venus de Milo", now in the Louvre), and also for statues of the Greek god Asclepius (now in the British Museum),the Poseidon and an archaic Apollo in Athens.
The Municipality of Milos also includes the uninhabited offshore islands of Antimilos and Akradies. The combined land area is 160.147 km² and the 2001 census population was 4,771 inhabitants.

Natural resources

Bentonite, perlite, pozzolana and small quantities of kaolin are actively collected via strip mine or open-pit mine techniques in Milos and sold all over the world. In the past, baryte, sulfur, millstones and gypsum were also mined in fact, Pliny notes that Milos was the most abundant source of sulfur in the ancient world.
In ancient times the alum of Milos was reckoned next to that of Egypt (Pliny xxxv. 15). The Melian earth was employed as a pigment by ancient artists. Milos was a source of obsidian during the Neolithic ages for the Aegean and Mediterranean.
Orange, olive, cypress, tamarisk, juniper (Juniperus oxycedrus) and arbutus trees grow throughout the island, which, however, is too dry to have any profusion of vegetation. Vines, cotton and barley are the main crops.

Μου αρέσει το μπλέ και το κόκκινο του φορτηγού πλοίου που φορτώνει τον πλούτο της Μηλιακής γης με το σκαμμένο βουνό απ΄ότι βλέπω να αδανασώνεται μερικώς.Το φως και τα χρώματα έχουν αποτυπωθεί εξαίρετα.

You're capturing well this scape by a good composition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's impressive to see the the cargo boat which carries mineral resources as the sulfur and the mine's mountain in behind. I did not know in addition to sightseeing, such a mine is on an island in Greece. The whole is harmonized well by panoramic view and a good color balance.

πολύ ωραία σύνθεση που τονίζεται από το σχήμα του κάδρου. Οι χρωματικές αντιθέσεις είναι εντυπωσιακές και το πλοίο είναι πολύ καλά τοποθετημένο μπροστά στα βράχια και το λατομείο. Ο φωτισμός είναι θαυμάσιος, καλά μελετημένος, πέτυχε υπέροχα χρώματα, ατμόσφαιρα και αντανακλάσεις ενώ έκανε την παρουσία του λατομείου πολύ διακριτική. Μου αρέσει πολύ το χρώμα και η υφή της θάλασσας και η σιλουέτα πάνω στο κατάστρωμα. Μπράβο και ευχαριστώ!

The tight crop gave extra enhancement when viewing the ship, and in good light upon.
What attracted my view also, is the carved road on the mountain in background, very notable - probably done to make easy access to the port.
A good POV over,nice managed photo.

So today I can qualify Milos as a "treasure island", given all the raw material extracted from its soil to carve in statues and for many other uses!
