Photographer's Note

A slipway, boat slip or just a slip, is a ramp on the shore by which ships or boats can be moved to and from the water. They are used for building and repairing ships and boats. They are also used for launching and retrieving small boats on trailers and flying boats on their undercarriage. The nautical term ways is an alternative name for slipway. A ship undergoing construction in a shipyard is said to be on the ways. If a ship were scrapped there, she is said to be broken up in the ways. (wikipedia)

Hello Vasilis,

The simple design for the slip and the boats moored in the background represent a lesson in the age-old practice of ship building. The paint used on the hulls have dripped and left their history. I like this image very much. Thank you also, for visiting my website and my daughter-in-law's blog. The Greek flag is proudly displayed at both sites. What I need to do still is to activate the Facebook and Twitter buttons on mine.

Hello Vasilis,
The wooden slips provide a fine and unusual foreground for this traditional view of boats in a harbour. They seem to have been used so many times when old boats have received fresh paint that they have become like pieces of abstract art. Besides, they give the picture great depth. Light management and colours are splendid.

We see here a very small slipway in foreground but this is good for small ships.
A pleasant panoramic view about these area.
